CardinalSin
I agree with Mr Snackette, on his current average of sub 6, you'd be silly not to use him. He's a good rider at this level and better than his current average. It seems from the comments from the promotion that they've been slightly disappointed with him this year and I know he's had a horrible injury, but I think we were all expecting a little more from him. But it's a numbers game as we all know and I think there's definitely more to come from him in the Premier league so hopefully he's given another opportunity next year. Baldyman
No where have I said he is a bad rider and if he is included next season then I would cheer him like I do now.
Baldyman
This constant self deprecation is becoming rather tiresome. The expression, bête noire is a phrase used in common English, and really does (in my opinion) accurately reflect your present antipathy towards Risager. When I come across a word or expression with which I'm unfamiliar, I look it up. It helps improve my vocabulary. We all have certain riders that we tend to have a certain antithesis towards, and there will be others who see things differently. However in the case of Risager, I think you need to accept that he is here to stay (rightly in my view), and move on. To be honest I'm not really interested in improving my vocabulary and have more interesting things to do than to keep looking things up. AS for Morten, if he is in next years team I will still support him like I do know. He will always get my full respect as a speedway rider, anyone that races a speedway bike deserves that. tomcat
Roll on 2012, and another good season of PL racing for the Witches. I couldn't watch the so called Elite League again.... have you guys and gals had a look at the EL section, its worse than a big bunch of school girls having a bitch fight...sheesh! I'm glad we're out of that now. As for our team for next season, I trust Chris to get it right again. But for some horrendous unjury problems, we would have faired better this season, I'm sure of that. From the current seven, I'd keep faith with Matt Tressarieu, Kev Doolan, Taylor Poole and Jerran Hart. Lasse will go full time EL I feel and Morten needs to get himself rested and fit, as for Millsy, I'm undecided, may be worth another punt, but then I would like to see young Cameron Heeps given a go, possibly with a doubling up roll. Maybe a good out and out No1, with Kev being loaned out. But then it all depends on the team building average thats set at this winters annual beano. Also can we sack Altroll too...as we've had enough accidents this year, can't be doing with another year of his talented...oops sorry, I mean talentless comedy comments... pufcfanno1
I have to say that after the AGM last year I was really hoping Panthers would go Premier League. I felt we had the asset base to put together a decent side in either League and I was fed up with all the arguing and abuse in the EL section. A year on and the EL section is still full of it and I can't decide whether Poole winning the Play Offs will help calm things down or not. I really hope we have a much better winter break and things get sorted out quickly this year but I'm not holding my breath. Anyway, the whole point of my post was to say that I feel Ipswich definitely made the right move and at the right time. I'm glad things are working out well and I hope you have a good 2012 whatever team you put out. Look after Taylor and any of our other assets. Ron Flegg
Recent seasons have shown that the key to success seems to be the ability to find a rider on a 4/5 point average who will begin the season at reserve and improve to the point where they are third (or even second) heatleader. If you can find that rider and surround them with solid point scorers then the title is a definite possibility. The Witches have been far too inconsistent this year, very few times have the team clicked as one and there always appears to be at least one rider having an off night who needs to be carried. I’d persevere with the main body of the team if available (Doolan, Poole, Bjerre and Risager) as they are now on averages they can all improve on IMO, but Tres may have too many commitments on the continent for my liking. At reserve Mills has been better than I had expected this year and Hart has done ok in patches while not necessarily fulfilling his potential but I don’t see either making a huge leap next year which is what we would need. Heeps looks like a possibility but we do need a North/Morris/Roynon type reserve who will score 10 points a meeting at the start of the season and move into the team proper over time. I can well understand why you would want to the Panthers to go PL, as without doubt it has been the best move that Ipswich have made in years. Rumours are that there are at least four NSEL clubs looking to drop down next year, but I must confess I have not heard the name of Peterborough being included amongst them. Forget the mention of assets, as there is no such thing. Young Poole may be on the Peterborough retained list, but at the end of the day he, in common with any other rider, will ride at the track that provides the best deal. This was proved by the Pole Swiderski a few years back.

Bagpuss
Recent comments from both Buster and Jonathan seem to indicate that Lynn will be staying put next year. I hope we do as the Norfolk Arena has had its buzz back this season and the racing has improved considerably as have attendances. Ignoring the political nonsense which has gone on, moving up to the EL has been a big success IMO. Racin Jason
I would think if Lynn do not recieve the sweetner that they got this year and the bjerres return to pboro they will have no choice to return to the pl. I hope so anyway.
Bagpuss
Don't agree with that, even if Kenneth and Lasse as expected revert back to P'boro I'm sure Buster will put a competitive side together. PL was good for the first few years but became very stale at Lynn, this season has been like a breath of fresh air. Can only repeat what I've said, all the indications are that we'll be EL again in 2012. I'd certainly not be in favour of dropping back down. It's a shame that Buster sold Ward and Batchelor when he did. They have had the riders who could have spearheaded an EL outfit, but at the moment they just don't have the assets (to the best of my knowledge). Off the top of my head only Topinka, Sitera and Smith are anywhere near EL standard. Out of those 3, Topinka struggled all year, Sitera needs to ride more often at this stage of his career, so think he might be PL bound next year. Smith could be worth a shot at a reserve berth next year. EL speedway (racing wise) has been great this year, but with the team-building, I think they hit gold this year. Might be a different story next year, and the year after (etc) until they build up a stronger asset base.
Mr Snackette
Racin Jason is really only saying what most of us of have heard from other sources. Whilst some may have enjoyed the NsEL experience (it takes all sorts!!!), financially it appears to have been a bit of a disaster. Without the inducement / bribe / sweetener / bung (delete as applicable), there would be some serious problems to be addressed. One thing you can say about the Chapmans, is that they are shrewd business people, and will not risk the shop for the sake of an egotistical whim. pufcfanno1
I think the signs are good for Lynn at the moment. The fact that we have brought Hans back with a quote from Rick Frost saying "It’s also an opportunity to look at our own assets before we begin formulating a team for next year" tells me that there's a chance Kenneth could be staying there. I think most Panthers fans are also of the opinion that Niels is better off elsewhere and I have a feeling Swindon and Coventry may possibly feel the same way about Mads & Olly. With a sensible (42 minimum) points limit I think they may be able to keep their top 5 together. Alternatively they could draft in the rest of our 2009 team and go with Kenneth Bjerre Ales Dryml Kenneth Hansen Mads Korneliussen Niels Kristian Iversen Henning Bager Claus Vissing The averages would have to drop slightly from the September GSAs if the limit were 42.5 though Edited September 13, 2011 by pufcfanno1
Bagpuss
Hey, I'm just a fan and as such have no real idea about the financial ins and outs of the club, although I believe that we are lucky enough to have a very, very good main team sponsor. All I know is what we've been told by the promotion. Anything else is purely opinion and guesswork on my part, and I would suggest that as 'shrewd business people' with a healthy fan base and excellent sponsor it would be a backward step to drop back down to PL. Its hard to argue against the view that the EL has been a bit of a political mess this season with the Cov/Pet/Poole squabbling but in terms of simply turning up at the Norfolk Arena for each home meeting and enjoying whats on offer (for a price cheaper than some PL tracks) it been a very, very good year. The club has got its spark back. Edited September 14, 2011 by Bagpuss
justspeedway
Jonathan has said before that things are going well, and even if ticket sales were down a bit Lynn would still be ok. There is a good crowd at Lynn (not on sky though we easily missing at least 1/3 of crowd when they show up!), seriously though it the best crowd we have had in a few years now and they know the PL got stale and the fans got bored, this year has been incredible for us with the EL boys you get some cracking racing and awesome skills - on our track anyway ;-) . The Chapmans are very good business men, like for instance using riders based in the UK they are saving themselves a fortune on air travel etc, I could well be wrong but I think our stay in the EL will be a little bit longer yet... only thing that will change that will be if very very stupid ideas are passed at the AGM in regards to the EL. The Chapmans will do whatever is best for the club and I respect that and will always follow the Stars! Regarding more assets lets see if anything happens after the Pride of the East but mainly there probably will be activity during the silly season. Anywwwo I'll leave it there after all this is a Witches thread. Edited September 14, 2011 by justspeedway

Lovey
Cameron Heeps has confirmed in the local rags* today (Thursday, 15 September) that he plans to ride for the Witches in 2012 "I'm as keen as mustard to ride for the Witches, and hopefully also continue for Mildenhall in a doubling-up capacity. I'm loving it over here and riding in the british league has always been my dream since I started riding bikes at the age of four. I'm having so much fun, and Mildenhall officials Chris Louis and Michael Lee have made sure that everything around me is relaxed. To be honest, I've done much better than I've expected." Also, Heeps is expecting to ride in the 16-Lapper at Foxhall on 27 October - his 16th birthday * East Anglian Daily Times and Evening Star (which now appears in the morning!).
