Ipswich 2012

Recommended Posts

I do get what you are saying Mr s., I would be very happy with Dakota north if its him. Some fans would like to win titles over entertainmet though. If a team wins titles it then has a higher chance of attracting bigger sponsors and possibly higher crowds. Personally I like to be entertained by racers, but it would be nice to win the title again. Only towards the end of the season we will see if the team was built the right way or not. Oh and the crowd levels.

Yes my sentiments also, it would be nice just once to have a team capable of winning the league. Its great to have entertainers but Witches if without a genuine no1 will win nothing and it will be the 13th year on the trot with not achieving any success. I thought the idea the Louis dropped down into an inferior league was to leave more options for better riders and success with more money available, apparently not.

Thats the kiddie! We must have a proper No.1, the boy Jerran might have to come back in to make this happen, its my belief that this would work, but old snacky can't comprehend this concept.

Just so we are all clear, could you please name these "top riders" at Foxhall EVERY week. Obviously we wont include the Premier League 2011, but lets say the 2010 season. There really are some dilusional people on this forum that clearly cannot see what is happening now at Foxhall is in the BEST INTEREST OF THE CLUB.

Lets go for your Top Ten Top Riders and I'll create a list for you, which I look forward to you populating:

1 -

2 -

3 -

4 -

5 -

6 -

7 -

8 -

9 -

I've reposted this in an attempt to get a straight answer to a straight question out of aljerk, but I'm not holding out much hope.

I've also just started to feel the negativity already regarding the 2012 Ipswich team, when only 3 of the 7 have been declared. Once again jumping on a bandwagon to have a go at the management. Any Ipswich fan worth their salt know by now that the Ipswich promotion never do their business in the media and announce signings etc until after the deal has been done. Absolutley no point in speculative comments only for those riders to end up elsewhere and that would be a real disappointment to supporters.

Many fans have accepted that Lasse Bjerre has moved to Leciester, where I'm sure he will be their stand-out rider next season. This was always inevitable by following his brother to Peterborough, who are a Thursday night track.

Also, to pick up on the comment that the Witches have won nothing in the past 13 years. In 2011 the Ipswich Witches won the Premier League Four Team Championship, one of the major honours in the Premier League. The Witches finished the 2011 season strongly, with many more consistent performances, including away success. Therefore if the nucleous of this side is retained then surely that is as good a starting place for team building.

For people posting on here and other forums, it is always so negative. Ipswich have signed Heeps and Tungate, which is such a positive start to the side. How many other clubs would love to have one or other of those two in their teams. So can we please give some credit, even just occassionally for the work that is being done.

And as I have said in a previous post, if the set-up is not for you, if the Premier League is not for you, if the riders chosen to represent the Club are not for you then maybe watching speedway at Ipswich is not for you and you should perhaps seek to watch your speedway at another track.

We won the 4TT just a few weeks ago thus claiming some silverware.

Just because we assume there will not be a out and out number 1 signed for next season does not mean a unsucessful season.

I repeat the pts limit remains the same however you build the team. Top heavy with weak reserves or a strength in depth side.

My first wish is to be entertained and if we get a cup that's a bonus. Last season was very enjoyable and this coming one could be better.

Yes I understand what you are saying but which rider would be left out to let this happen? Also where is this genuine rider no1 rider, can't say I can think of one apart from an elite rider dropping down. Also remember Tungate will go straight into the team not at reserve if Louis brought Hart in and certainly weaken the reserve line-up while putting alot of strain on young Tungate. No I can see Louis signing a solid team with no genuine no1 there was a few around but not now as all have been signed up and that will mean no success yet again. Suppose whatever league Witches are in, us fans have got used to that over the last 12 years.

I think its worth noting that it isn't necessarily important to get your team building right from the off this year. Its not going to be how you start, it will be how you finish.

Newport last year built what looked on paper to be a poor side and so it proved. They were beaten heavily home and away and were rooted to the bottom of the table. But that enabled them to strengthen up massively which they did and they went on an incredible run which saw them climb up to fifth in the table.

By the end of the season, they had on paper a team far stronger than anyone else. If the league had a play off set up like the coming season, Newport would more than likely have lifted the championship trophy.

So for those supporters that are unhappy with their line ups so far i wouldn't be overly concerned as long as you have a proactive promotion. The job is to get in to the top 6, not finish first. Finishing top of the table this time will win you nothing.

I've a feeling that a number of clubs will look very different at the climax of the season to the ones that started.

Altwit negative again,,

Does one need an "Out & out" Nr1 if you have a solid team in which all 7 riders have the potential to increase their average? That to me sounds like a good formula for a winning team.

To be fair, if the Ipswich team is the one rumoured, you could have the possibility that the team works hard in meetings to be in with a great chance of taking something, especially away, only to see all the hard work undone in the closing heats.

Looking at the top end of a few clubs already, Ipswich potentially look like being bullied in heats 13 and 15. Thankfully for them, no tacticals can be used in those heats this year.

I've already mentioned on another thread that the probable Ipswich side of Doolan, Poole, Matt T, Risager, another 7 pointer, Tungate & Heeps reminds me a lot of the Lynn team of 2009. Nobody is going to have reserves to get anywhere near Heeps & Tungate in my opinion and as a result the Witches are generally going to have the upper hand in heats 2,8,12 and 14 so more often than not heats 13 and 15 aren't going to be as vital as last year. Plus the fact that I think Doolan will increase his average anyway.

As always, ignorant of two things:

  1. Chris Louis said he is rebuilding the club, which is a longer term goal.
  2. 2011 was a successful season: a brand new team, which achieved third place in the PL and won the 4TT which was one of the few major trophies on offer. Several other PL clubs would have given anything for that sort of season.

Just going by the fact that the six I named would leave 7.18............

Interesting to see this clamour for a seven point rider. By my calculations the only seven point rider that rode in the PL last season that could be accommodated is Matej Kus, and I believe he has signed a contract to ride for Redcar.

So unless someone can name a Category 2 rider who is looking to ride in the UK, ( and to go with three riders on assessed averages would be a hell of a risk ), I think expectations may need to be tempered.

Josh Grajczonek would fit if Dakota North signed instead of Risager. I'll admit given the circumstances that it would be a big surprise if Risager didn't sign, but who knows maybe we're all wrong on that.

Just seen on another thread that Dakota North's new club will be revealed on Tuesday, and our full line up is being revealed by middle of next week......

There are several between 6 and 7 who may or may not fit the bill such as Sweetman, Eklof, Morris, Legault, Wells, Wilko, Hefenbrock and Topinka and one who is just under 6 in North who probably looks the best bet of them all everything considered. Linus would be ideal but I suspect he'll be riding in Sweden on Thursdays.

What's Morris average then?

6.94

I'd take North over Eklof. In fact i'd take North over all those you've mentioned except Morris under normal circumstances.

Perhaps that stunning performance by Dakota North at Foxhall earlier in the season with that paid 21 point maximum is still fresh in my memory!
