Ipswich 2012

Recommended Posts

Thank you cardinalsin for your post of Mikes review having not read it myself. How true his words are, a real realist like myself. Now please you "rose coloured glasses" fans who post on here read a true speedway journalists words who actually is a Witches fan. Say no more whos right the "rose brigade" or a top journalist Mike Bacon, aljack and cardinalsin ???

There are some very ordinary riders in the PL - no one has disputed that - you are the only person who refuses to acknowledge others' points of view. No one has disputed the fact that the PL is a stepping stone to a better and more solid future for the club - yet you still refuse to accept that too.

If you have bothered to read the article (thanks to cardinalsin for posting the link), then you'll see he has plenty to say that is positive about the PL, and the realists amongst us who support the Witches have seen some very good competitive speedway at Foxhall this season - mixed in with some duff stuff too - but that's no differrent to a season of speedway at any track, be it EL, PL or NL.

By the way - in this week's Speedway Star they published the Top 50 EL averages - and it's intersting to see that Mads Korneliussen (in your opinion a "very average EL rider") was 15th overall in the (again your words) "star-studded" EL.

The stars are going out, one by one

So that's the second signing then:

http://www.speedwaygb.co/news.php?extend.13803.3

I'm really looking forward to getting next weekend's AGM out the way so we can start to see the signings flow. It sounds like we won't have to wait too long to find out who will make up the Witches septet judging by Pete's comments.

With his tweet this week saying one or two new names are now in the frame, maybe there will be a surprise or two.

I really hope the 2012 team is a good mixture of exciting youth and consistant experience, one or two more asset signings wouldn't go a miss - maybe young Mr Poole?

I'm still unsure if Lasse will want full time EL, if he doesn't (or wants to D/U) then he should be one of the first names on the team sheet, it's easy to forget his age is still only 18 so maybe another season in the PL might be just what he needs?

I'd really like to see the team I mentioned earlier in thsi thread but of course depending on the AGM it's purely speculation / fantasy speedway at this point in time!

Kevin Doolan

Morten Risager

Taylor Poole

Lasse Bjerre / Sam Masters

Nick Morris

Rohan Tungate

Cameron Heeps

Kevin and Morten to be the "experience" in the line up (although Morten is still only 24!) and as the remaining five are all young and exciting prospects this would lead to some exciting racing and hopefully see Ipswich there or there abouts come a years time (barring injuries etc)

Keeping my fingers crossed for the team news but rest assured I'll fully support whoever has the Witch emblazoned upon their chest........regardless of what league we compete in!

If that is the Ipswich team wow, I thought they looked good last year - think Heeps and Tungate at reserve will be awesome!

Good news? I keep hearing people say he is on a bargain average for next season so let's hope you are correct. I can only go by what i have seen this season. As for Pete let's hope next season he doesn't duck out me using a tactical when we need to use it most. So far a reasonable start to next seasons team.

Yes good news or not that is the question? Doolan let the team down on many occasions this last season particually in heats 13 and 15 when used. Just because his average has dropped alarmingly that is no reason to sign him again and expect him to up it considerably. But having said that I think he is a good captain but just hope he can inspire the other riders in the team with his own riding, that remains to be seen.

Yes he is a good captain, just needs a couple of engines. The ones he had this year just didn't like daylight, he got better as the mights drew in!! As for the afternoon bank holiday jobbies.......was it worth turning up?

Yes lets hope his new engines he is ordering do the trick for Kevin and he gets his old form back. There was signs of it returning in October and he is certainly a good captain and agree with other posts that he is the best captain for many a long year. Wonder who the 3rd rider to be signed is? My guess Morten Risager because he is a Witches asset and hope very soon afterwards Masters and Morris follow suit, or is that just wishful thinking.

Raising expectations based on absolutely no evidence.

I 100% agree with this part of your post. The only way forward is to sign their own assets and rejoin the star studied elite league. But its essential that the Louis put together a competitive team and not all on the cheap as in the past 10 years.

On the cheap??? Yes, when we were in the NSel (copyright Snacky), but last season i reckon we were one of the top payers. Lasse and Taylor didn't join the Witches for the scenery, and it was generally said that these two, were two of the hottest properties. Apart from the "silly money" (alledgedly) paid to Mr Gjedde, i reckon the Witches were much nearer the top of the money league than the bottom. And while Chris is in charge, i fully expect this to continue. As for your crazy comment on the "star studied" elite league, i assume that was some sort of a joke.

and the rest of the premier league teams breathe a sigh of relief.

Firstly I truly hope next season you have no need to use guests, but should that occasion arise, I truly hope your promoter TM won't ask Kevin to guest for you then, because he's the kind of guy who will agree to try and help you out, but obviously his best is not enough for you Worky lot

Not many Ipswich fans sad at this announcement I bet, we think he's great, and am so glad CL and Pete stuck with him last year.

Oh and how can anyone think that our teams in the EL were cheap  , hardly think Mark Loram, Hans Andersen, Scott Nicholls and Jarek Hampel were cheap :nono:
