Ipswich 2012

Recommended Posts

Speedway Star for w/e 21 April has a two page interview with Leigh Lanham, and features the Sackers Witches on the back cover.

It's nomally available at Martlesham Tesco, and WH Smith in town used to have stock (but I avoid going into town). Cockram's newsagent on Foxhall roundabout used to hold stock too.

From what I've heard its going to be quite some before Taylor returns to the saddle so I'm guessing it's going to be some kind of team news . I've no idea who it may be or if indeed that's the news but as a team you can only run on r/r for so long before it starts taking it's toll and costing us league points ! If it is rider news lets hope somebody good .

Sesquipedalian

In brief: "smart" characters using long words when short ones would be better. Characters afflicted with this trait often seem to go out of their way to over-complicate their speech, probably because writers think that this is the only way to show that someone is more intelligent than the average writer. This could also be the trait of a particularly anal-retentive character who always has to be right, the trait extending so far that the character always has to use exactly the right word — never using "blue" when "azure" would be more accurate, for example.

Far to clever for me !

Excellent Damon :approve:

For those seeking a little more up to date information on "that Dane who rode out in Oz in the winter", Rasmus Jensen rode in a Danish U21 qualifier earlier in the week, scoring a creditable ten points in fairly decent company.

1. Mikkel B. Jensen, 15

2. Mikkel Michelsen, 13

3. Nicklas Porsing, 12

4. Thomas Jørgensen, 11

5. Jonas B. Andersen, 11

6. Rasmus Jensen, 10

He also rode in an individual meeting in Gustrov, Germany earlier in the month, scoring seven points from his five rides. The meeting was won by former Witch, turned banker, Toby Kroner.

At 18 years old, he is certainly one for the future, but his signing would certainly be a big gamble. But as they say ....he who dares!!!

It's been said that interesting news in paper before, but It's been anything but, just a ploy to sell papers.

Can't think of too many riders around and not sure of averages, but has Travis got a team place anywhere? Has his work permit been sorted out? Would be best to try and add a new asset though.

I'd say it was pretty big news to be fair and a little surprising. Are Ipswich planning a prolonged stay in the Premier league?

Signing up Doolan and Risager as club assets and selling the only real Elite asset they have in King, would suggest so.

If Danny King being sold is the VERY BIG NEWS that will get us all talking Mike Bacon seriously needs to get out more and get a life ! I done know anyone who would be genuinely be interested in that !

If it's needed to balance the books, then it's very interesting.

Shame that ITFC haven't got anyone worth anything to help with their debts :)

Indeed - updated with text from http://www.ipswichwitches.co/index.php/news-centre/433-danny-king-becomes-a-brummie

Ipswich Director of Speedway Chris Louis is disappointed to sell one of his assets but explains, "It was one of the hardest decisions I have had to make so far in my short period in charge of the club. The decision to sell Danny to Birmingham may come as a shock to some as I continue with my aim to re-build the club. Unfortunately bringing the brightest new talent to Ipswich comes at a cost but it is vital that we continue to do so. We also received a 10% rent increase for Foxhall just 24 hours before the first meeting of the season which obviously came as a massive blow and hit the season's budget very hard. I have involved Danny all the way through the process and would like to thank him for his cooperation, I have to stress that Danny was happy to remain a Witch but when the offer came he agreed that he was enjoying his time at Birmingham and if it was best for the club then he was happy to join them full time. Danny's transfer gives us continued security at a difficult time for all clubs and I would like to wish Danny every success with his new club. He has always been a real pleasure to deal with and he knows he will always be welcome at Foxhall".

I wouldnt read to much into it,balancing the books can mean anything, selling an asset that isnt used is good business sense, and if it balances the books then good,
