Ipswich 2012

With Lanham listed in Rye`s 1-7 at present, would Ipswich talking to Lanham be deemed an illegal approach??

There are various criteria used by the BSPA, including: (a) whether it's black bin or green bin collections this week, and (2) which way the wind is blowing when they actually have to make the decision.

I would not have thought so because if Rye have to release him if he finds a full time ride he would have to talk with other clubs to get that team place.

But ............................ with the way the BSPA work they could see things a little different from the rest.

Indeed - and Ipswich might also be able to.

As a lot of others have pointed out, it's all to do with what Lanham himself chooses.

Your right that its up to Lanham, but its also true that Ipswich may be only able to sign as an injury replacement, thats if they intend to get Poole and or Risager back into their team.

No. Rye have stated he's on a short term contract. Nothing wrong with discussing a deal with a club asset for when that short term deal ends.

Risager could be up to 6 months. Then has to work his way back to form and fitness which could take some time as everyone knows he's a confidence rider. Chris Louis said last year that it took Risager a lot longer to fully get over his hand injury than they expected.

Probably sensible to sign a full time replacement and try and get Risager fixed up elsewhere when he recovers.

Indeed he is. As a product of the Suffolk educational system he will probably know when to use an apostrophe as well!!!!

Of course he will yes,and no doubt knows how to spot a wayne kerr when he see one too!

Mr Snackette you really are a wit or have I only got half of that right

Good to know you're still about Muppet.

Rumour has it that you have been to night school to brush up on your basic arithmetic skills, and to get a very simple understanding on the theory of Absolute Returns.

I trust this went well, and you can return to the Forum as our resident gambling expert, with your head held high, and with your credibility restored!!

Mind you that is just speculation........

Ippo would be mad to not try and sign lanham if poss, the guys class and was a massive scorer for newport in the second half of 2012.

He is flying atm for rye though and if they want to keep him and he wants to stay there is sod all ippo can do, with frampton and neath both out i cannot see silver wanting to release him.

Sod all Silver can do either. As in practically every case, whoever offer him the deal will get his signature and after hearing our promoter say Ipswich offered ridiculous money for Tungate, my money would be on them!

With only half wit, Mr S is far, far ahead of many who question his approach to life, the universe, and everything. Despite our differences, I am a huge fan of dear old Snacky - or should that be a dear fan of huge old Snacky - because he's got a very realistic outlook. Respect has to be earned, not purchased in a betting shop.

If any team comes in with a bid that Lanham finds attractive, there's sod all that Ipswich or Rye House can do.

After the publicity gaff about Garrity, it seems that several other teams have been alerted to his transfer request, and the youngster would be even madder than he appears not consider all offers that come his way - and take the one that he thinks is best for him.

As you say, I think it may well be that Lanham would rather ride elsewhere, than for his home town club.

There is a view that the pressure of riding for Ipswich is something he doesn't relish. Certainly he struggled (and struggled very badly) when he has ridden for Ipswich in the past. This may have been down to any number of factors, the shape of the track, the successful career that his father had with Ipswich, or just the pressure of being a Witch.

In fairness the shape of the track has changed, and now appears more to his liking. In addition, it may well be that the time he spent at Newport has also improved him. Riding for a small provincial team in front of small crowds with low expectations, may have helped in the development of the excellent rider he now is.

The worry is that once he again dons the Witches race jacket, he may succumb to the pressure, particularly as he would be coming in as the Witches Number One. On balance I think it a risk worth taking, but at the end of the day it will be Lanham who decides where he's going to ride this season.

To be fair Lanham's last stint with Ipswich was in the Elite league where he's never been more than a 5 point man. Add to the fact he openly admitted hating the track and it was never really going to be a success. If he did feel pressure of riding for his hometown track too, then immediately installing him as captain and giving him extra responsibility wasn't really a shrewd move either.

Didn't he actually pick up an injury very early on before being replaced?

Despite being on the Ipswich retained list for the whole of his career Leigh has actually rarely raced for the Witches. He certainly didnt enjoy the old shape - particularly how it narrowed off turn 2 into the back straight.Since the revamp and the widening at that point Leigh has looked very comfortable at Foxhall. Over the years many Ipswich fans have been critical of Leigh, largely unfairly in my opinion, and I hope this doesn't come back to haunt us now and cause Leigh to choose to go elsewhere.

Tungate was very good at Showground last night, deserved more points than he scored, will be very good on big away tracks in the Premier, worried the crap out of Bach! Camo got closer all night, best of all, both came thro' unscathed......happy days
