flagrag
Also I am very sorry to say that all the coverage is being downscaled to SD as there are no HD studios available to use can't wait until all the new HD studios are handed over for use so can finally do away with SD coverage due to lack studio capacity. With free weekend offer on and both Real Madrid and Barcelona playing Saturday night Speedway was always going get pushed to red button and SD coverage. yahoho
I am bloody fuming at all this! I pay for SkyPlayer. THATS SKY! Its not Virgin, or any other means of not paying Sky, IM PAYING SKY THE DAMN MONEY! Im paying for the entire sports package costing about £45 a month! I CANNOT GET THE RED BUTTON! I feel for you guys with Virgin etc too, but you are only paying for half the package, same with BT. BUT IM PAYING FOR THE WHOLE LOT! I feel a wasted email to Sky is now in order. It will come to nothing, as they are hardly going to give me and me only red button access on SkyGo, nor will they re-arange the schedule due to me complaining. But it might make me feel better. I will then simply cancel my money going to them each month and go back to watching pirate streams online.
21st century heathen
Hmmm and I doubt those of us that pay extra for the sports package and extra for HD will get a refund!
yahoho
Sky Sports HD4/4On Sky Sports HD 4 (Sky Channel 404) and Sky Sports 4 (Sky Channel 454) let Saturday kick off with some live Scottish football with Dunfermline v Rangers from the Clydesdale Bank Premier League (12.30pm-3.30pm)' date=' followed by live Grand Prix Speedway (6pm-9pm). At 9pm jet off for a Saturday evening of more live sun-soaked La Liga football fixtures from Spain (9pm-11pm). Then on Sunday, touch down in the USA for awesome American football from the NFL.[/quote'] Taken from their website about 10 minutes ago about the free weekend they are offering - no mention of spanish crappy football or red button... CUFC_Brummie
I'm in the same situation with Sky Player, and what's even more annoying is they're not even showing anything live on Sky Sports 2 and 3 at that time! I sincerely hope the above post means they've bumped La Liga onto one of those channels and reinstated the grand prix on SS4. To have a live event on the red button when there are 2 channels not showing live sport would be a disgrace.

Not getting into the rights or wrongs, but if you really want to make a protest to Sky then CALL THEM! An email will get lost in millions of others but a call to a person has to be acknowledged. Won't guarantee you will get what you want but far more chance than an email. PS: Adopt a reasonable attitude with the person at Sky rather than a rant, and in my experience you may have some success (No guarantees!) Backless
Will they at least be able to broadcast the damn thing in 16:9??? I think it was the Nordic SGP that was in 4:3 but Sky decided squashing the pictures into 16:9 would suffice for the poor saps who have paid to watch. "Lack of HD Studios"? FFS! I look forward to an adjustment being made to my direct debit in that case. HOW LONG have Sky been charging extra for an (incrementally increasing) HD service & they STILL Haven't geared their own studios up to cater for it? Pathetic. flagrag
I agree Backless the GP from Malilla was very bad on Sky and was caused by lack of HD studios in fact on that day it was a studio very rarely used now except for voice-over work as really old 4.3 cameras and gallery so had to stretch the picture to fill the screen and in my opinion a total mess. So far this year Sky has recieved a HD feed for all GPs but often downscaled for broadcast. I have not had a chance to check which studio they are in tonight as the red button will make it look poor anyway as low available bandwidth and old encoder. flagrag
One quick thing I forgot to add and as mobile won't let me edit post. Can I please urge anybody who is thinking about recording the GP on Sky to do it from the live red button feed tonight and not from the replays on Sun so that the powers at be can further see why Speedway should not be pushed to the red button
Noodles
Red button working for the GP on SS4 on Virgin. Just came up when the programme started. Does anyone know for sure if the red button will be available on virgin again tonight? Not going to bother with the preceding 55 minutes if not. Pirate Nick
Pardon my ignorance but as Sky Sports is free this weekend (I dont subscribe to the sports), will the red button thing be available to me?

lastword
It's not made obvious at all, but it is possible to record the Red Button service (on Sky+ - don't know about Virgin). On the Sky Planner, record the speedway at 6:00pm, as you would do normally. Then (somewhat bizarrely), record the Spanish football that follows at 6:55pm. Only then doe the planner give you the option of either recording said football OR the Red Button coverage of the SGP. Hopefully that'll help those (like me!) who'll be at speedway on Saturday evening & want to watch the SGP later. Cheers, Bob Many thanks for that. As a recent SkyHD subscriber I could not find this info in any of the bumpf that I got with the box, or on the website. I even phoned Sky CSD technical help......and he didn't know the answer either! Just picked up your post and it has helped several other folk too.
