PhilK
Taken from the Official Mildenhall website Mildenhall Fen Tigers wrap up their National League programme against the Newport Hornets, on Sunday (4 Sept) with co-promoter Michael Lee warning the side will have to be at their best to keep their unbeaten home record and get the points needed to finally confirm their play-off berth. "Newport will come here fighting for points, make no mistake about that. Mathematically they can still make the play-offs themselves and with a top two of Todd Kurtz and Jay Herne it would be wrong to underestimate them. The minute we do that we'll be in trouble." The Tigers have opted not to bring in a guest for injured number one Cameron Heeps and will use rider replacement instead. "To be honest, although Robert Branford was great for us away at Hackney and Scunthorpe, the guests we've used for home meetings haven't worked out so well. So having considered things we thought it would be good to let the rest of the boys pick up the extra rides." There had been concerns that Lewis Blackbird would be forced to miss the meeting after injuring a shoulder in the horrific pile up at Scunthorpe on Monday, that left John Oliver in hospital with two broken legs and back injuries. "It wasn't looking good for Lewis up until Wednesday night. But he got some movement back after more treatment on Thursday, and is confident he'll be ready for Sunday." Another big crowd is expected at West Row on Sunday for the last league match of the season. "Our supporters have been superb all year and have been behind everything we've set out to achieve. All being well we still have play-off matches and maybe even a Cup Final to come, so the action isn't finished yet!" Gates on Sunday open at the usual time of 3pm with the parade at 4.30pm. Expected team line-ups: Mildenhall Fen Tigers 1. R/R 2. Mark Baseby 6.93 3. Joe Jacobs 6.27 4. Lewis Blackbird 6.78 5. Jack Hargreaves © 7.02 6. Daniel Halsey 4.80 7. Aaron Baseby 4.82 Team manager: Robert Henry Newport Hornets 1. Todd Kurtz 10.08 2. Tom Young 3.26 3. Matt Bates 4.86 4. Brendan Johnson 4.02 5. Jay Herne © 8.14 6. Richard Andrews 3.48 7. James White-Williams 4.48 Team manager: Kevin Brown

aljack
Looking at the 2 line-ups this looks like an easy home win for the Tigers. When your 3rd heatleader has such a low average it does not bode well for Newport as they look totally top heavy and thats not a recipe for success. Obviously missing young Heeps like mad but reckon r/r will cover quite well as long as Lewis Blackbird is truely fit to ride. My prediction is a 18 - 24 point win for the super Tigers
CrystalCastles
Depends how well our top two go, both have had very good performances around West Row. If they ride well then we can keep it fairly tight. Mildenhall should have enough to come through to win by 8-12. 2ndbendpostie
Just seen that Jack Hargreaves blew an engine up at Scunny last night guesting for BV, and rode the remainder of the meeting on borrowed bikes, hope he can get something sorted at such short notice for Sunday. Weather forecast is edging towards dry for the afternoon so the Tigers should be the first NL team to complete its league fixtures tomorrow, so if they can preserve the unbeaten home record then a play off place will be secured. R/R when used for Mark Baseby scored well so hopefully the same will happen when used for Cameron, and also with no more fixtures planned until the KOC 2nd leg @ IOW, this should be the last match without him, with Chris Louis saying that the IOW fixture was the target for Camerons comeback. Looking forward to seeing Todd Kurtz, last time I saw him at West Row he was a class above anything else there that day, shame we wont be seeing Todd and Cameron going head to head, we could have had a Bronze kangaroo for the highest scorer ! Will the parade truck be back from its 2 week holiday ?, it does look so much more proffesional than riders walking out at the start or doing a victory lap of honour 2 or 3 up on a bike. Mimmo
Seeing the advert from Jaybea regarding the Mildenhall flags, if you're a genuine collector of speedway memorabillia, you won't want to miss out on one of these. Although I've not see the Fen Tigers 'Wind Blowers', I have seen those for Lasse Bjerre and Emil Sayfutdinov, and they are tremendous value for money. Racin Jason
I purchased a lasse bjerre flag which I put on a wooden frame so it looks like a canvas. This is on my wall at home and looks stunning.

Mimmo
Thanks for the info Damon. It's the same here, with the odd spot or two already having fallen. I intend leaving home at about 1.45pm, so if the conditions should worsen, would you or someone please be kind enough to post on here. Can't wait to see Jaybea39's super duper state of the art flags. Incidentally Jaybea, now that you've had your 42nd Birthday and have entered your 43rd year of life on this planet, then isn't is time to rename yourself 'Jaybea (edging ever nearer to half a century)42'? CrystalCastles
Well done to the Fen Tigers a very good performance. Not a great day for most of our team, at least JWW had a good meeting. Hope it wont be too expensive a day for TK & Jay.
Mimmo
I'm surprised it's not already been done by a Mildenhall fan, so I'll step forward and commend the Fen Tigers management team on providing a more than raceable track in extreme conditions. I can think of a club a couple of hours away, that would have called this meeting off long before it had started, but not Messrs Jolly, Lee, Henry etc. I doubt there were many people on the terraces, if in fact any, thought this meeting had a cat in hells chance of taking place, but take place it did, and congratulations to both sets of riders for giving of their best. Good luck in your quest to reach the KO Cup Final, you and your fans deserve to have what will be another profitable day at the turnstiles. I must also mention the flags that Jaybea39 going on 50 mentioned this morning. They are a joy to behold if you're a Mildenhall fan, and priced at just £20, it's little wonder folk were biting his hand off to purchase one. I'm off for a tuna fish sandwich now...bye bye.
