conk98 Posted August 27, 2011 Report Share Posted August 27, 2011 Hi guys We are in need of help,my son who is 13 has just stared getting into speedway he has been to a few training days with wayne carter,and is getting on very well now we are looking into getting his own bike,but the problem is what to get 125cc that hes been training on 250 or 500 so he can race Ive been told that the 250 and 500 are to big for the mini tracks are the 125 to small for the bigger tracks what we have been thinking is to get him a 125cc grass track bike so he can get more track time at small grass track meets and still take it on the mini tracks till hes 14 and than can move onto the bigger bikes and tracks any adive will be a great help Quote Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...

Another to look at is young Nathan Stoneman who started at Somerset on a 125 and now at 14 years old is putting in some impressive laps at the OTA on his 500cc. Go to your local track and ask if he can get some after meeting practice. hooper Posted August 29, 2011 Report Share Posted August 29, 2011 yeah getting onto grass to gain track time totally agree but puttin grassbike onto speedway track is not ideal dont get me wrong it will get round but to learn speedway properly you need a speedway frame but like i did start on grass and get him riding the bike to the best of his abilities then get him a speedway chassis he will then be able to start to slide the bike into the corners at the end of the day it is upto yourself and your lad what u both feel comfortable doing the cheapest grasstrack to get in to is the fga (formula grasstrack association) its really friendly and quite cheap to compete and your bikes dont cost a fortune to run because they only run 125cc engines so you can pick them up fairly cheaply ok hope this helps cheers stuart Quote Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...

It is economical, friendly and local, (wrekin club). It may be too late for you but if you check on the Formual Grasstrack Association web site you will see that we are racing at Shawbury Nr Telford, tomorrow. Starting at 2pm.
