spin king
Well Looking at the draw, time to start looking who will be contenders, spoilers, and who will be a no hoper.Time to give you Spinneys preview of the runners and riders. Chris Neath (Rye House) Never had much form around Owlerton, and watching him twice this season I don't see if getting many points if any too be honest. Rating; No Hoper Ben Barker (Plymouth) Top Dog in the league, and had a great season for both Plymouth and Birmingham and rode well the WTC for Team GB. but on his two visits to Sheffield with Plymouth he has looked very average. But in saying that he is a class rider and you cannot rule him out. Rating; Contender Aaron Summers (Redcar) His Owlerton form is some what patchy and inconsistent, could win races in one heat and then come in last in the next. For that reason I cannot see him winning, but could win a race or two. Rating; Spoiler Shane Parker (Sheffield) Anyone who has seen Shane around Sheffield this season will tell you that he has absolutely superb, and will have the whole of the Sheffield crowd getting behind him. It would be great to see him bringing the curtain down on his fantastic career with a PLRC win. Rating; Contender Kevin Wolbert (Edinburgh) All depends on which Wolbert turns up, at times he has looked really good around Sheffield, but at other times very very average. But I don't see him getting a victory. Rating; Spoiler Charlie Gjedde (Newport) After watching him on the two occasions I have seen him at Sheffield this season he was frankly been rubbish. But as Wanna has been telling the BSF World that he is now a different rider. But I still cannot see him been one of the favourites. Rating; Spoiler Mark Lemon (Newcastle) Normally would have the fast gating Lemon up with the contenders, but I think injuries recently will have taken their toll plus race rustiness I cannot see him been a contender. Rating; Spoiler Sebastian Alden (Berwick) Looked really fast and competitive, when he came to Sheffield, and I can see him been up there with all the other contenders. Rating; Contender Sam Masters (Somerset) Done very well to qualify ahead of some good riders in the Somerset side, but I think that he will still do well although I don't think he will win the meeting I think he could well be a spoiler Rating; Spoiler Kauko Nieminen (Leicester) Not seen him around Sheffield this season, but he general goes well, and he appears to be racking up the points in the Premier League, and should give the Leicester fans something to cheer about. Rating; Contender Rusty Harrison (Workington) Part of a very solid Workington team, but I don't see him making much of a mark in this meeting. Rating; No Hoper Kevin Doolan (Ipswich) Not having the best of seasons, and never seems to do that well at the PLRC,so I don't see him doing anything of great significance. Rating; No Hoper Joe Screen (Glasgow) Sheffield is made for a rider like Big Joe, and he has been having a great season with the Scottish Tigers so you have to have him down as a Contender. Rating; Contender Tero Aarnio (Scunthorpe) Not quite sure how he has qualified ahead of David Howe, but Tero does ride Sheffield very well, but I think that he find it hard to string together 5 good races. Rating; Spoiler Ricky Ashworth (Sheffield) The only rider in the field to have won the title before, his form has been a bit hit and miss and he has openly admitted that he has struggled with set ups. But don't rule him out of meeting and he will really want a second title. Rating; Contender Jordan Frampton (Rye House) Had his moments at Sheffield, and at times has looked good around the Owlerton track, but after his last visit I don't see him getting anywhere near winning the title, but could win the odd race oe two. Rating; Spoiler
The White Knight
Shame Jason Lyons isn't riding. I would have thought of him as a Contender. Edited September 12, 2011 by The White Knight
spin king
Shame Jason Lyons isn't riding. I would have thought of him as a Contender. Funnily enough for some strange reason Jason has never done that well in the PLRC even when he has had a good season, but in saying that a rider of Jason's class you would not rule him out. tigerblues
Tero Aarnio (Scunthorpe) Not quite sure how he has qualified ahead of David Howe Howe and Hall both away on FIM duty on the 25th.
JCookie
Surely he will be as his average is higher than any other 2nd best rider. Lemon I would guess will be the Newcastle representative now he's back racing, with the 'wildcards' going to Robbo and Ashworth. So what happened? terrier
So what happened? robbo should be in machin probably spat his dummy out
spin king junior
robbo should be in machin probably spat his dummy out How has Machin 'spat his dummy out'? Ashworth would've still been in the meeting even if Robson was put in as a wildcard

The year Jason rode for Mildenhall , he finished 2nd or 3rd . Pretty sure it was the year Zetterstrom won it .

I stand corrected he did finish 2nd in 2006, what I maybe should have said is generally he has done so well.
spin king
robbo should be in machin probably spat his dummy out What are you suggesting that Neil Machin now has a vendetta against Stuart Robson, or that Jordan Frampton is indeed his love child and he has insisted that Jordan Frampton be included. I will admit that I am mystified as to why Stuart Robson has been left out, but I will try and find out by asking the Super 7 organiser Dave Hoggart. Gjedde is currently average somewhere around 10.34 and Barker is currently averaging around 10.02. They both had poor meetings at Sheffield too. barrow boy
The use of the rolling averages for me does not give a true refection of the form riders of the season, my own personal opinion is that I don't like them. The averages that are been used for the PLRC have been published and start from the 1st September, and those state; Charlie Gjedde 8.16 Jason Doyle 7.90 Leigh Lanham 7.76 Rolling averages should not be used to decide the qualifiers. If Kevin Doolan is selected to ride for Ipswich he can consider himself to be a vey lucky man as surely based on this season alone he has been outscored by at least 3 other riders with Lasse Bjerre being their top rider. Pinny
Urm.. How are these two any different? Gjedde is currently average somewhere around 10.34 and Barker is currently averaging around 10.02. They both had poor meetings at Sheffield too. Why do you bite to such blatent wind ups? IMO Gjedde and Barker are the top two riders in the PL, but that doesnt mean much in a meeting like the PLRC as proved when riders like Ashworth have won it. I can't see past Shane Parker in all honesty, hes been terrific at home this year to be fair.
SCB
This is Parkers titles to win. For once I'd not mind a home winner either. That said, anyone counting out Barker or Gjedde is a little bit mad (or winding someone up)
DukesGreg
I wouldn't have Ashworth down as a contender this season.. he just doesn't seem quick, even when leading at times.. and is forever looking down at his bike and looks frustrated. Not so invincible round Owlerton. I would say Gjedde as Parker's main rival.. Charlie has it, it is just about applying it, on his day he is a great rider. Barker would nark me off if I was a Plymouth supporter and he won this.. he has been pedestrian in his club meetings here this year.. difficult to grasp how a rider can do okay in World Cup events internationally but get hammmered by the locals at Premier League level. Funny old game indeed. Same with the Rye House boys. After last weeks woeful performance, I'd be frustrated to see them do well against the top boys if I was a Rye fan. However.. funnier things have happened in (individual) speedway. Mmmmm. Parker or Gjedde for me then. And I am sure somebody will wander along and rain on my prediction parade. Here's another meeting with a ridiculous 'Run Off' carry on to find a winner.
CrystalCastles
Agree with Wanna its a blatent wind up directed at Wanna . Although i think Spinny does have a point based on Gjedde's performance at Owlerton, additionally if he labelled everybody a contender then it would be pointless him doing his preview, which for the record was very good Spinny He has based his viewpoints on riders performances around Owlerton this year, given he is a regular he is in a far better position to say who out of all the riders would be likely to be pre meeting favourites, and reading most if not all of Sheffields updates this year courtesy of Squall and SKJ i'd have to agree with his assessments with respect to riders chances on paper.
