Good luck to them indeed but whoa! BEST Pairs

What on earth is the criteria that considers Kyle Newman and Ashley Morris to be England's 'best' pair? I'm astonished.

Both riders race in the THIRD TIER of the sport in the UK, the National League.

Ashley Morris has ridden 11 matches for Leicester in the second tier , the Premier League, for an average of 2.38!!!

Kyle Newman has ridden 21 matches for Newcastle in the second tier for an average of 5.05!

Kyle Newman has also ridden 9 matches in the top Elite League where his average is 1.43!!!

Like i say best wishes but wow! talk about a case of false advertising. I'd sue if i was a newcomer to the sport and went along expecting to see the BEST pairs in Europe

This track doesn't exist on Google maps, so it's obviously not been there very long. Reckon they'll be more people there on the Sunday for the Longtrack, but have to agree, they should drop "the best" bit. The Czechs and Germans look strong, so at least the locals will be happy. There's 3 of us going out to watch for the weekend, loads of other racing at various levels.

Superb aerial photographs of the track on this official page whether they are from Google Earth or another similar service i shall check in a few minutes.

It certainly is an amazing picturesque setting. If the weather is fine you're heading for a very good time.

UPDATE

I'm just scouring their website right now, it's very detailed and some great history and photos but......for the life of me i can't see an actual address let alone directions! Wierdest thing i've ever seen. I don't think my German has deprecated that much since i had a German girlfriend a few years ago lol.

There's a very detailed map of the track's actual site and buildings/facilities etc. Maybe it's because i'm rushing to head out, but not totally convinced that's the case.

Any updates for this meeting?

Ive no idea if any other riders were asked to go. All I do know is that both lads accepted the invitation straight away.

Its certainly not for the money, which barely covers fuel costs. However, experience wise, its a great chance to show the Continentals that they are both worth future bookings.

In the EU events calendar, take a look at how many riders we have nominated in any of their events over the years. Its astonishingly poor.

Yet we still get some of the young British riders complaining about lack of experience abroad. They need to get in NOW for next season. They need to get on to Neil Vatcher and Phil Morris and badger them to be included. It may cost them money initially, but the better they perform, the higher the rewards.

Earlier this season,Paul Starke won a meeting in France, with Brendan Johnson in 2nd.The meetings are there, IF the riders really want them.

Any updates for this meeting?

The results from Berghaupten leave me a little bit confused, here we go then:

Qualifying heat scores (heats 1 to 15): Latvia 22, Czech Rep 21, Germany 18, GB 14, Denmark 9, Italy 8.

C-Final (for positions 5 and 6): Denmark 5, Italy 1.

B-Final (for positions 3 and 4): Germany 3, GB 3.

A-Final (for positions 1 and 2): Latvia 3, Czech Rep 3.

So we have Latvia, Czech Rep and Germany qualify for the final in Poland, but GB would have gone through ahead of the Germans if they had only gained a heat advantage in that B-final. A 4-2 over Germany in that B-final race would have been enough for GB.

What do You think of this 'bright new' and according to an official UEM statement 'much more exciting' system with additional finals after the heats?

This was only introduced by the UEM at short notice for this meeting, when it became apparent that there would only be six pairs. Would it have been too much asked if they had made a seventh pair of local track reserves?

The other semi-final in Hungary had seven pairs riding the traditional 21 heats, and the results of that meeting were decided by points scored only!

Oh boy, that's speedway!

What a brilliant track, it's only has one meeting a year. Even after 50 plus races there was still passing inside and outside. Kyle Newman and the Latvian Lebedevs were the stars of the night, Lebedevs made some great passes, and Kyle was always passing someone or getting passed himself, but he put up a great show. One of the main reasons for the great racing was, there was no fence, so the riders could go very wide and if things went wrong they could just run off the track onto the grass. As for where the track is, if you go on google maps, look to the north of Berghaupten and you'll see a lake, if you zoom in you'll just make out a grass track next to it, the speedway track is inside that.
