Mildenhall V Scunthorpe

You lost a point which may cost you dearly. It does not worry me in the slightest. When you face the mighty Potters 7 man team you really need to worry.

I think i,ve pulled you up on this before, I didnt lose anything, I wont need to worry about any team, thats Mildenhall Speedway's problem, not mine, I go to speedway pay my tenner and enjoy all 14 riders, have my sausage and chips and then go home, then I go to work in the morning.

I am so pleased it doesnt worry you, as you do seem to have a major problem with young Cameron even when he's injured you still seem to have to mention him in threads even when your team is'nt even riding.

But as an impartial observer, Scunny to me are the better all round team than Stoke, judging by the last two meetings at West Row. The fact niether guest performed today is strange as between them they had averaged about 11 on their previous appearances at Mildenhall this season.

Next time Stoke are down at West Row pop over and say hello, I would be so interested to meet you. Sadly I do'nt do away meetings otherwise I'd offer to meet you at Loomer Road.

A tremendous advert for NL speedway (except for those nervous minutes while Stefan Nielsen was on the track being treated). One of the pleasures of watching Mildenhall at the moment is you can never be sure who is going to score the points

All 13 riders looked determined and produced plenty of exciting racing. PhilK has pretty much summed it up, although I'd add that Adam Wrathall would have scored more had he been sharper at the gate - he looked very competitive after the first two bends. A good crowd, and a warm sunny afternoon. I thought Dan Holt had a difficult afternoon - and while I doubt if anyone will agree 100% with his decisions I don't think he got anything manifestly wrong.

Gutted I had to miss this meeting as I was working. But great Mildenhall got 2 points against a very strong Scunthorpe side without Cameron Heeps. His replacement was very poor and that put pressure on the other riders but they came up trumps. Another great showing by Lewis Blackbird, Im sure he will be destined for the premier league very soon (Witches in 2012???)

How do you know his replacement was poor when you didnt even go, who would want to ride for the witches with supporters like you.

Thats same feeling i get, maybe the stoke manager will be looking at this if he wins the league and has the pick

Spoke to the gentleman ( ) himself yesterday on that very subject.

In fairness to him, I won't reveal all what he said but to let everyone into a secret if Stoke finished top he revealed he'd probably pick one of Dudley, Mildenhall, Scunthorpe, Belle Vue or Hackney.

Of course Scunthorpe threw points away. Rider replacement would have won this meeting for them. Mildenhall used a 6.12 rider as number 1 and it backfired on you. Without Heeps you are a spent force.

Unfortunately, your constant anti-Mildenhall rants destroy any credibility that these remarks might have - that's if they had any credibility in the first place when it is clear that the two guests poor performances cancelled each other out.

The simple fact is Mildenhall won without Heeps and one might equally ask (I wouldn't) what Stoke would be without Simon Lambert.

But as an impartial observer

:o:D

Agree with ArnieG's comments - brilliant meeting and a credit to both sides and NL speedway in general.

I said before the meeting to Kevin Jolly that Mildenhall's best signing this season isn't Cameron Heeps but Bob Ellis, a top trackman (and a very decent bloke to boot). Mildenhall has always been a superb racing strip when prepared properly and yesterdays surface reminded me of 2007 with Huggy in his prime. Great stuff.

Unlike Phil K(who is rabidly biased :D ) I thought the referee got the decision to exclude Baseby right and the decision to exclude Nielsen (every best wish to the lad) in heat 14 wrong. There was no malice on Halsey's part I am sure, but he gave Nielsen no room when the Scunthorpe youngster had nowhere else to go and was almost level.

Even the slight downers of Lewis Blackbird's appalling attempt to get heat 15 rerun and the huge cheer that went up when Birks fell  (as many have said you get them everywhere)couldn't put a dent in the day for me. I have missed not coming down a lot and seeing everyone again was fantastic (even that git Nikko :D ).

Surprised (pleasantly)to see Sunglasses Dave there. Jumping on the bandwagon of a potentially successful NL team now that Sheffield's title challenge has gone, mate ? :o:D

Gave an honest opinion on the Baseby incident mate, and didn't say the referee made the right decision in Heat 14! As I said above we were cheering what had become a 5-1 to win the match for us when there was an awful coming together near to the line. Immediately our concern was for Stefan Nielsen's well being.

Everything happened so quickly it was I think a very difficult decision to make?

Another cracking meeting at Mildenhall yesterday and a terrific showing from all of the riders, Mildenhall and Scunthorpe alike. All the riders spoke well after the meeting at the Fans Forum and you can see how well the Club is being run by Chris Louis, Michael Lee, Michael Lee and Robert Henry with the turnout of supporters in the bar. It's worth noting the after meeting practice of Ipswich's Jerran Hart, who looked very impressive with numerous practice laps. With Cameron Heeps now at Number One for the Fen Tigers, and likely to be sidelined for another month at least, perhaps a short-term role for Hart at Mildenhall is being considered?

I am going to give up my Mildenhall bashing. I am even boring myself with it. You clearly do have something good going on there with Louis and Lee etc. Im sure someone will correct me if i am wrong but Jerran would come in on double his Premier average of 4.10 making 8.20. However with a like for like change you could not then fit Heeps back in on 8.74. Have I got that right?

Must say where i was stood at the track shop for heat 14...Halsey was no where near Nielsen.....Nielsen's front wheel came up and was out of control when he hit the fence.......Never even crossed my mind Halsey would be excluded..pleanty of room given it what was a terrific race.....Best wishes to Stefan

Our viewing points are somewhat similar and I thought the same as you, in fact if Halsey had been near Nielson I would assume that Halsey would also have come to grief. That said, it was an horrific accident and all our thoughts were with him as he lay motionless on the track, good luck to him in his recovery.

As for the rest of the meeting, well great performances by some you thought might struggle and some not so good by riders you expected to shine, but thats why I prefer NL racing, more passing, more unexpected perfomances/results than in the other leagues. The one other suprise to me was the lack of visiting support, judging by the amount of scunny supporters who post on here I really was expecting more noise when Kevin asked who was supporting the saints, so to get yet another good crowd with little or no away support was excellent.

Only other winge from me is why do referees deem unsatisfactory starts when the rider who gets warned has got to the first bend in 3rd or 4th place ????????, it happened twice yesterday, fine if he's got an advantage then pull it back (although to be honest I'd winge at that as well as I think providing you dont hit the tapes then good luck to you if you get a flyer).

Good to see you again mate complete with the AC/DC shorts we even managed to win with you there, shows things are on the up.

Nielsen crash looked horrific, glad he is not too badly hurt - still can't believe you think Halsey was at fault "the Scunthorpe youngster had nowhere else to go and was almost level" bit like saying I almost won the lottery, the bloke next door won it - Dan was ahead so could choose his own line and did not appear to look back for Stefan refs decision backs that up - never known a stadium to go so quiet so quick though.

Thought both Aaron and Dan did well yesterday and all of our riders took some crucial points. Worrall brothers were superb, couldn't see them getting beaten until the fall.

Agree with much of your comments, Halifax Tiger.

Especially regarding the fraction of Mildenhall supporters cheering when a Saint fell (on most occasions).

It's appalling behaviour and should be stamped out of the sport as much as possible.

To be honest, Kev, I didn't see what happened as I had the worst view of all - I was on the third bend at the time. When the crash happened, my mate went berserk but I said I didn't think Halsey had done anything. It was only when I asked one or two on the 4th bend that I drew that conclusion as they all said that Halsey had moved over, that view being reinforced by the angry reaction of one or two in the Scunny camp.

My own view is that if a rider is more than a bike length ahead and the rider ahead goes for a gap that can be closed and subsequently is, its the rider behinds fault. If he is less than a bike length behind and the rider in front closes that gap, its that riders fault as he leaves the other nowhere to go.

It was good to see you too mate - its been too long. It won't be next time, though, I should be back next week.

You get such a*seholes everywhere (maybe even one or two at King's Lynn :o:D )

I have to say its the first time I have heard it at Mildenhall in all the years I have been going there - then again, its only with rare exceptions that I have seen a crowd that big at West Row before.

My own view is that celebrating a rider falling off cannot be justified at any time because you can never be certain precisely what has happened. From comments on here, so innocuous and common place was the fall that crippled Alan Wilkinson for life people would have been cheering that.

My god I so hope so if that mean Witches will replace him at no6 in the Witches team for the rest of season :drink::D
