Mildenhall Fen Tigers teenage Aussie star Cameron Heeps is expected to be missing for up to a month, after it was confirmed he has broken a wrist in a last heat fall in his side's 45-45 draw at the Isle of Wight on Tuesday.

The fifteen-year-old, who had won his opening six races, fell as he challenged the home pair of Nick Simmonds and Danny Warwick.

"It was a racing accident pure and simple," said co-promoter Michael Lee. "Cam high sided and fell heavily on his wrist. He's been to see a specialist today (Weds) and will visit another one tomorrow (Thurs), which will give us a much better idea on how bad a break it is. Like the rest of us Cam is gutted about what's happened. One thing is certain, we will not try and rush him back. He is still only a young lad, with a fantastic future ahead of him, and we will do nothing that will jeopardise that. We now how to be patient and keep everything crossed that if we reach the play-offs Cam will have recovered and be able to rejoin the team then. It's a real shame and took the gloss of us going top of the table, but that's speedway and we just have to get on with it."

In the meantime Mildenhall are looking for a replacement for Sunday's crucial clash against Scunthorpe at West Row. Lee added, "Cameron would have been riding at Number 1 on Sunday on an 8.74 average, so we are looking for someone around that figure who can step in. We should have a better idea of who that will be by the end of Thursday".

Looking at those available I'd say Robert Branford is the best option available to Mildenhall.

I'm a bit confused.

Is this meeting on Sunday, or was it a typo?

I thought the rules were 3 home/3 away, then 7 days, which would surely mean Heeps' new average doesn't take effect until Monday...

It would have been Monday if he was riding (I reckon) - but they need a replacement so it'll come in for Sunday ...

To be fair, so are Scunny, given that they've already beaten Mildenhall to one of the better riders available for that average. Sure the Scunny fans who have expressed opposition to Aussies in the NL arent too fussed that their team hasnt opted for a British-born guest!!

Still could be three good options out there for Mildenhall though, subject to availability, two of whom are on Superstar1's shortlist. Personally I wouldnt choose Allott, who hasnt always ridden West Row very well. If Barrie is available, I'm sure he'd be the most likely choice for the promotion and may well have been their first choice anyway. It could be if the top two or three choices arent available, then R/R may still be an option.

Should be a close meeting, with Scunfield a solid side from 1-7. Mildenhall will miss Heeps' points, so hopefully they'll get a proven quality heatleader as guest from the limited options available.

Taking a look at these averages, seems Jon Armstrong may well be a possibility, not to sure myself which average is applicable.

I can only see one set of averages in there which is over 9.00 and thats his home average, His GSA is 8.65 and that seems to me must stand for Green Sheet Average, which makes him suitable to cover Cameron, i am not 100% sure about which averages apply, but i reckon he is the one, especially being ex Mildy.

If Jon Armstrongs average did fit he would certainly be a possibility. Personally I'd think Jay Herne would be the choice. Has shown a liking to Mildenhall before and is a fast gater.

If PL riders are allowable and can be considered if doubling their average is not greater than 8.74?? Then I'd certainly be looking to use Jerran Hart at Rye House next saturday!

Jay would be my choice, too.

If Jon and/or Jerran are options for Mildenhall, then they are very good ones too. I'd not considered them when I was thinking of suitable options.

However, if Barrie is available, given that he lives locally and Mildenhall were keen to have him in the team this year, albeit he'd already committed to Hackey, then I dont think they'll look any further than him.

Very very glad to see what Michael Lee is saying about not rushing Cameron back, he is only 15 and this is only the 3rd tier of British Speedway, its not important in the greater scheme of things and we all know he's bound for bigger and better things than this, so let him get healed properly even if it means he doesnt ride again this season, it seems as though Adam Roynon tried to come back to soon for Dudley and I wouldnt want to see this happen to Cameron.

Whoever rides for the tigers this week I can see it being a good exciting tight meeting, and personally thats all I want from a speedway meeting, no dramas about who was born where or anything else like that, which seems to upset so many others,no real concern about who wins, although obviously I will be cheering on the West Row lads, just the best value I can get for my tenner please gentlemen !, oh and a good supply of sausage and chips please.

There is part of me thats hoping Jerran Hart might be eligible, not for any other reason than to see aljacks response !

Am I right in saying that Harts average is too high for him to ride in the NL?
