high edge
Just to let everyone know the Hitmen take on Kings Lynn on sunday its been sometime since we had a meeting but the fixtures this year are a shambles.Riders are finding it hard to stay focused and keep there racing heads on.its no fault of the clubs but it is a poor way of doing things next year it may be an idea to start the league later so we can have more regular meetings.Anyway after a good result at I O W the Hitmen should be on the gas and get a winn against the young stars . No Olly Rayson due to illness. Line-ups now confirmed. Spitting with rain @ 2.50pm. Referee is Graham Flint. The weather is cold and overcast, and the track looks patchy. HalifaxTiger estimates the crowd at being about 200 people or so. The track is "rock hard" according to a rider. Ivan Mauger is at Buxton! Unbelievably almost unrecognised. Halifaxtiger
Very good meeting - as I said on updates, probably the best I have ever seen at Buxton with both sides putting in an awful lot of effort The track didn't look brilliant to me with the base coming up on the first two turns and a large rut on the third bend throwing everyone out but I was told by a rider that it was pretty good. Certainly the racing was. Quick mention for Ashley Birks. You would not only have thought that he was a Stars rider but one who had been there for several years by the way he got involved. Impressive Even had a quick chat with the legendary Ivan Mauger Edited August 15, 2011 by Halifaxtiger

P T Preece
First visit to Buxton today for this season, enjoyed the meeting, cant stand this stupid Tac ride rule. A team builds up a useful lead over a number of heats to get it wiped out by the tac ride, it cost Buxton 2 points today, worked it out when I got home, if heat 11 had been a 2-4 instead of 2-7 to the stars, buxton would have won by 46-44. The sooner they get rid of it the better. All in all a good meeting some close racing, the usual falls, a bit of rain and sunshine, will be there again soon. Great Central
Where is Mimmo, he usually has a build up for the YS by now? Judging by the lack of dialogue from him, it looks as if he missed out on his favourite speedway journey out into the wilds of the Peak District and this time the Young Stars won. Sounds like a good meeting with all the drama that Buxton brings.

Not a big fan off the tactical but its in the rules and can be used by either team. What pees me more is the refs who constantly call back races even though the rider that was at fault has made a hash of the start and is last. Happened atleast once today when Buxton were on a 5 -1 and on a track like Buxton where the start is 90 percent of the race, why give them another cha Chopper

No Martin, I didn't miss what was an excellent afternoon's speedway, but as you may have read on the Speedway Star, I've recently lost my Mum, hence my being quiet. It was when Ashley Birks was done for spinning his wheel - he was third going into the turn and the referee called it back. The only thing was in the re-run he was still third. Cant really remember what the end result was but its happening in all leagues , including GPs. With the tacticals , what we will see happening is teams manipulating results as to use the black and white as aust did in the WC and also to stop teams from going 10 points behind, which in the end will turn it into a farce. high edge
I agree Chopper we could have thrown heat ten and it was a option but we at Buxton dont work that way.It would have prevented Kings Lynn from useing a tac ride if we had told Dean to come third but we are not cheats. But it makes you think just how often it may have been done, all it does is cheat the public .Lets try another rule say being ten behind you can put any rider in a race,as long as they dont exceed the amount of rides allowed. But they dont score double points,i think its a fairer way of doing it and it gets ridd of the stupid double points rule.So if a team goes ten behind after heat 5 they can replace any rider with any rider in any heat twice, but all must still have three starts minimum. And they only score normal race points it worked for years and gives the team manager more options to consider. Cheers Mike Mike, No I missed the bit in the Star but I echo Whippy's comments, and knowing what you came back to post your holiday, it must have been a very difficult time for you recently. Really glad that you managed the trip to Buxton since I know how much you enjoy getting up into the hills. An added bonus was the result going in your favour which is not the result I wanted, but well done to the Young Stars. Hope to see you next week for the re-arranged fixture with the BV Colts. Some serious racing for us in the meantime with Dudley and Sheffield away and then KL. One day we may race at home!!! Martin
whippy
you can put any rider in a race,as long as they dont exceed the amount of rides allowed That used to be used years ago and was known as a tac sub. much better in my opinion even if the YS did win yesterday, the B/W helmet is crushing to home supporters if their team is winning by a fair margin.
