Nl Cut Off Date- September 11th

Recommended Posts

Well, with the benefit of a couple more results to predict, I think the top four will be like this:

1 Stoke

2 Mildenhall

3 Scunthorpe/Sheffield

I think 4th place will then be between Belle Vue and the Heathens. I know Dudley have been thumped on the road twice this weekend, but I wasn't banking on any league points from those matches, so the only change is the abject manner of defeat, which we will need to put out of our heads. I hope we can still pick up 10+ league points from our remaining four home matches, which would take us to 30 points. Much will then depend on whether we can pick anything up at the Isle of Wight.

I know Hackney are up there at the moment, but I think they will drop out, down to 6th.

Cheers for the update, pretty much what i expected to happen after a big run of NL matches.

Stoke & Scunfield look assured of places, i think Mildenhall will have enough but can see there being a 3 way battle for 4th spot now.

No problems, hopefully Mildenhall will make it to the playoffs, something from Saturdays fixture at Hackney would certainly help. 33 points looks like the target to me!

I hope you guys do, will be a good reward for the hard work put in this year. Yeah it certainly would. I think 30/31 might be enough.

Cheers :) that's generally all that ever makes it to my signature song lyrics & quotes.

Still think this cut of date could be a factor in the play off,its looming up fast and with Saints visiting Hackney on the last day,and Still got arrange a date for Newport Away, and the the rain off we had v B.V,could get a bit tight

Stoke to i think race on the cut off date and the night before

Imagine if it came down to scunny having to win at Hackney to get into the play offs[to knock Hackney out of them] and a small shower of rain dropped at Rye,would Len dare go for an early call off???

Why does the NL have to have a Sep 11 cut-off? It's not televised.

Seems stupid to cram so many meetings into such a short time and then leave a whole 7 weeks for play-offs which are a maximum of 2 home and 2 away matches.

I'd agree to a certain extent, but the league season is nearly five months old and teams only have 9 home meetings to run.

I suppose it is more difficult if you run a EL/PL side as well.

Another bad result for Dudley tonight, nothing seems to have gone right since Kyle Newman left when Adam Roynon returned briefly from injury. They now look rank outsiders for the play offs sadly/

With the league table showing that Newport still have 7 fixtures to ride before the cut off date of 11th September, and only three arranged so far (Mildenhall away tomorrow, Belle Vue away on Wednesday, and Belle Vue at home next Sunday), it looks impossible for them to fufill their fixtures so what will the outcome be for those teams that haven't met them yet, or for the teams that have and have gained points against them. Extend the cut off point?? Run two double headers on Friday and Saturday?? Expunge all of the points as if they have withdrawn from the league or what?

Play off deadlines are just that - a a deadline after which fixtures do count in terms of league position but obviously not in terms of the P/Os which indeed may or may not have started or even finished before the outstanding fixtures are raced..

To expunge Newport's fixtures because they'll have some outstanding would mean having to do likewise with all teams who had a match or two not raced...

To some extent I concur with what you say Parsloes, but in other ways I don't.

Newport should have entertained King's Lynn (who need that meeting to be run as they still have a play-off chance)on Bank Holiday Monday, but decided to call it off at very late notice, without to the best of my knowledge, any official statement as to why. It's been rumoured that they couldn't arrange medical cover, but I don't know that for a fact. If that postponement, which is so close to the cut-off date, involves ANY club that is reliant on it taking place, so as to aid their chances of progression, then there should be a way around it.

If in this case King's Lynn miss out due to the non-running of that meeting, then that's not fair, because it's not their fault that it didn't take place, they were eager for it to do so.

Goodness knows what the answer is, but what looks like happening ain't it :nono:

The race for top spot could be quite close as well. Scunthorpe/Shef have 2 meetings before the cut off date, both away (Hackney and IoW) while Stoke also have 2 (Home to Hackne, away at Buxton)

If Shefthorpe secure all 8 points, it would leave Stoke needing to win at home to Hackney and take a point off Buxton to confirm their place at the top of the league.

Ironically, the one outstanding fixture for each team would be Newport (At Stoke and Sheffthorpe being visitors to Newport)

Given the performance today, I think Stoke would probably choose Mildenhall, but it has the potential to be a very interesting play-offs for all teams involved!
