DutchGrasstrack
Motorcycling Australia (MA) would like to advise it has withdrawn the Australian Team from the 2011 FIM Team Speedway Under 21 World Championship to be held in Balakovo, Russia on 3 September. MA has made this decision primarily on the grounds of logistical and insurance concerns. MA’s CEO David White said that while MA is strongly committed to supporting International team events, the livelihoods of riders must always be given priority. “MA has a proud history of supporting the FIM Team Speedway Under 21 World Championship, and this decision has not been an easy one,” White said. “Unfortunately, MA has identified a number of insurance and logistical issues that could have a negative impact upon our riders. “Whilst FIM Team Speedway events are of paramount importance to MA we must be satisfied these have events have minimal impact on our riders’ professional commitments. “In this instance MA was not convinced the impact was acceptable and sustainable.” http://www.worldspeedway.com/artman/publish/article_17002.shtml so how many teams left? Ghostwalker
Sweden have withdrawn as well due to, logistical problems, insurance problems and time aspects. Its not a surprise since it has been hinted a few days ago that this would be likely to happen. I think one of the major factots behind the decision is that there is a schedule conflict with this event and the Allsvenskan finals which means that 4 of the 5 riders who rode on the team in the tea, U21 seminal would miss out on the finals. Three of them rides for the same team (Rospiggarna) which is favourites to win Allsvenskan's promotion series. So i think that Svemo don't want to ruin it for Rospiggarna if they make it to the final (which is likely),by sending half their team to Russia. http://www.svemo.se/...-JVMforSverige/ Edited August 11, 2011 by Ghostwalker
f-s-p
Just to add some heat I want to say here, that the two U21 indivual finals scheduled for Bahia Blanca, Argentiina next year are confirmed. This was told to me by CCP member Teromaa in July... Denmark said on in July that they were going to be there and win. I wonder whats gonna happen now. f-s-p
Finland was also asked to do this a couple of weeks ago. FIM has put up some extra money for the teams travel, so to just travel it might work out. When adding the missed meetings during the 4+ days missed in Europe and cost of racing it's adds up to a pretty big expense for the riders. Argentina 2012 here we come! f-s-p
Reading the Holsted website they say (I think) that Jonas B Andersen's bike has been left at the border because the paperwork does not add up. So Denmark is going to Balakovo with 4 bikes. Doesn't surprise me, since a year or two ago Kai Lehtinen's trip to an European Championship ice racing meeting in Russia was stopped at the first border station on the Russian side for similar reasons.
