Kennett Suspended!

Recommended Posts

Despite releasing the story on their website the BSPA haven't amended their tables. The MiniMax tables have reflected the SCB change of the result. Hopefully the BSPA will follow suit and i'm right to have updated the table?

The reversal of the result certainly has had a strong effect on the chase for the play-offs.

TBH there have been rumblings since the start of the season that this was going on, perhaps now that someone has been found out, others who may or may not have silencers in a similar state, may just think again!!!!

He has been found cheating! It's just whether he knew about it at the time or not.

How can it be that a rider does not know about it ..... unless of course we are to believe a mechanic is to take the complete blame ... a la Leon Madsen ..... Didn't believe it then and don't believe it now. If that Silencer was tampered with - he knew about it! Silly, silly boy!:mad:

I presume the silencer will now be cut open to see what exactly has been done to it: It might be something as simple as him welding a crack in the silencer or the part that fits onto the frame.

Just because he has been shown to have tampered with the silencer according to the regulations, it does not automatically follow that he has altered the silencer to gain an advantage. When it says his silencer was tampered with, it simply means that something was done to it. So he may not have cheated at all, just done something he thought was needed as part of the upkeep of his bike.

We shall have to wait and see before we sack anybody.

Surely Dave King would have found out exactly what had been done this am

Well maybe he should have told the machine examiner that was there to make sure it was ok and surely the riders would have been briefed about what is acceptable when changing parts of the silencer at the beginning of the season!

OFFICIAL STATEMENT

Sunday August 07, 2011

COVENTRY Speedway and Edward Kennett accept the findings of the technical examinations of silencers following the Elite League fixture at Lakeside on Saturday.

The Buildbase Bees won the match 48-42, but the result has now been amended to 42-30 in the Hammers’ favour following the withdrawal of points scored by Kennett.

Kennett’s silencer was found not to conform to the regulations and he will now serve a mandatory one-week ban, and attend a Disciplinary Court Hearing, with the Bees permitted to use the rider-replacement facility for the forthcoming away matches at Peterborough (Monday) and King’s Lynn (Wednesday).

All five other silencers which were tested, including those of Ryan Fisher and Przemyslaw Pawlicki for Coventry, were found to be legal and will be returned to the riders.

Following the SCB disciplinary hearing, the club will be taking its own internal action against Edward Kennett if necessary, and we can also confirm that the captaincy will pass to Ryan Fisher with immediate effect.

Coventry Speedway has a long and proud history, and under no circumstances does the club condone cheating of any kind, whether that relates to race fixing or machine tampering.

The club are shocked and disappointed by the actions of their captain, and would like to stress that no member of the Coventry management had any knowledge of Edward Kennett’s silencer tampering.

We would like to re-assure all speedway supporters that the management are as appalled by his actions as any fair-minded supporter would be.

Coventry wish to express sincere apologies to British Speedway, its supporters, and in particular the supporters of Coventry and Lakeside who attended the meeting on Saturday, for this unacceptable misdemeanour.

We would also like to thank the licenced officials at Lakeside for bringing the matter to the referee’s attention, and for dealing with it in a professional manner.

Can someone clear up how the Masden situation was dealt with last year.

Was it proven, was he suspended and how does it compare to the Kennett situation.

Kennett is guilty as has been proven this morning and I doubt he will protest the ban.

BUT the question is - Did he do it knowingly?

Was he aware of the tampering, can a well constructed silencer show its been tampered with or not?

He changed from Prodive to King I understand but I'm not sure when and do all riders buy new or do some use 2nd hand or borrowed silencers?

Could this be a reason?

I'm clutching at straws here, but I find it hard to believe that Ed was aware of this. Why go out and get a maximum? Surely that is just raising suspicion, although it was his gating that got him out there in the first place. And why lend Nick his bike?

Not everything adds up here and I feel sorry for Ed and his team.sad.gif

Excellent statement from the club, that hopefully hints at his imminent dismissal if Rosco can find an adequate replacement.

Just seen Coventry Bees official statement on their website and to be fair a very good statement it is too .... as for Kennett ... sack him despite his efforts in the past and this season - how many other points has he scored using a dodgy sliencer then?

What an abuse of his position as a rider and a captain for god's sake of the Bees ....:cry:

Looks that way. Such a shame as he seemed to be making real progress in the last 2 seasons.

Personally I'm not bothered if he never rides again after this
