Seven days ban is quite enough for the kid...He`s only done what loads of other riders have done. Also it`s gone on for YEAR`S...riders using "big `uns" , altered carbies , doing allsorts to tyres etc etc. Technically cheating yeah...but it`s been part and parcel of speedway for decades...He`s been caught, had the points taken away - week off an` lets all forget about it...He ain`t killed anybody !

Strange that Mr King was on site on Saturday evening, was 'something in the air' ? I guess he will be at several tracks in the course of the next few days but after this I doubt he will find anything. Too many really good riders have not been scoring their usual quota of points this season !! Perhaps things may alter now. I do hope he will be on the International scene as well ??

will he have company as well MR DEP and Mr Prodrive

just a few questions

1-The protest was made after heat 7, Kennett wasnt in that heat7.How did edwards bike come to be looked at if it wasnt in heat 7?

2-Anyone know who eds engine tuner is as to get the max out of the silencer the engine has to be tuned to go with the silencer?

Having read all of this thread, the one post that stands out to me above all is the one that asks (to paraphrase):

If his silencer has been tampered with but is still within the decibel levels, is it technically illegal?

I would also add:

Why can you tune an engine within 500cc but you can't "tune" a silencer within 115db?

Goodonya for removing the offending post, Steve; now in all fairness and as a favour to Forum Admin everyone who quoted it should remove their posts as well, but of course we know that won't happen.

Done.

Ditto

Goodonya boys: good to see a bit of integrity on here.

If anything decent comes out of this latest mess, it is that of the integrity

of both Ryan and Przemyslaw which remains and high-lights the good racers

that they are. Having read the reports from the Saturday

I had feared the worst - but not from Eddie !!! What a shame for the

bloke, but reading the Coventry statement, I fear for his position.

However, what scope now for "cup-in-hand" and replacing Eddie with Hans ?

Could just be a blessing in disguise !

Do you mean Mr King was at Lakeside? Strange because I was chatting to him both before and after the meeting at Rye.

Interestingly enough this kind of thing has happened a lot in Formula One over the years (anyone remember 1994 and Benetton team, famed for their fast pit stops having a part removed from the refuelling hose that made the petrol go in faster?). The usual handling in F1 was a fine and sometimes a points deduction, yet the teams keep racing. In other sports cheating has occurred - baseball legend Sammy Sosa was found to have an illegal bat in 2003, for which he received a 7 game (1 week) suspension.

Eddie, if found guilty by hearing, will no doubt be penalized as should any rider who breaks the rules. If indeed this practice has been widespread as alleged, hopefully this incident will be a deterrent to others and anyone who has been tampering will get honest and straight.

Edward Kennett will suffer for the loss of income based on whatever term he cannot ride for and a reputation that will be hard to shake off. I hope that if he is guilty he will learn from this and return a better person and rider. Gary Havelock did - 12 month drug ban, missed all of 1990 season yet was World Champ in 1992.

I can understand 100% the upset of Coventry fans who after last night thought they were play off bound and now have to recover from this hammer blow.

All this raises the question of whether Roscoe knew what Kennett was doing. If the SCB examiner suspected something was wrong on a casual visual check then how come Roscoe, an ex-rider himself who knows all the tricks of the trade didn't notice anything ? Roscoe after all is working with Kennett all the time, every meeting so how come he didn't notice anything untoward . . Did Roscoe turn a blind eye ? I suppose we will never know.

You really need to stop now, your original "informed" post had you casting doubts over the equipment of Pawlicki, due to the fact that apparently he looked worried, your original informed "postings" mentioned nothing of Kennetts behaviour nor of the apparent tantrum from his Father. Now you are sitting at your little computer wondering aloud if the team manager was in on it..... disgrace.

I WOULD imagine that if a silencer is tampered with it loses its homologated (legal) status no matter what decibel level it might produce.

Perhaps we could go back to the diameter guage up the exhaust outlet, then all machine examiners could have one and there's no worrying the manufacturer to examine internals. Anyway.......wheres the noise testing man when you need one, surely that must be the acid test.

SIMPLY isn't feasible to noise test every silencer at every meeting ... costly, time-consuming and a major problem of all these tests anyway is that the same silencer will give a different reading at different venues, depending on a number of factors including wind, surrounding buildings, ambient background noise, etc.

That is why silencers have to be homologated to ensure that they are manufactured to a certain standard in a particular way.

Amazing, Coventry fans never cease to amaze me! Kennett stood by Coventry in the close season, and now their fans are turning their back on him by calling for him to be sacked without waiting to hear his side of the story.

Don't condone cheating, but all we know is he used a tampered with silencer.. does not mean it was intended to cheat or that he knew it had been messed with.

Eddie has excepted the findings, his bike was illegal. His 'mistake' has probably cost us a play off place and as captain he should be more responsible.

Dave King rips apart silencer to prove it's illegal. He does. Ed asks for independent person to check the silencer, how do they do that with a silencer that has been taken apart? Should the manufacturer really be the one taking it apart?

Who said that David King ripped the silencer apart ? The other riders were given their silencers back after testing so clearly there is some way of testing them without ripping them apart.

Representatives of both clubs were present during testing.
