The meetings were actually held at the Palau Sant Jordi (it was the opening event for this location, and consisted of a mixed motorcycling events - speedway, trials, moto cross, flat track & quads), which was part of the Olympic park, but not the Olympic stadium. The crowd was pretty good as I remember, and speedway was new to them but they took to it well. The speedway was organised by the late Ian Thomas & Graham Drury. Puma23
rusky your information are very interesting. Did any spanish riders took a practise in that speedway ? I have spanish article about flat track racing from the meetings. There are many famous names but I think they did not ride in speedway. There was no practise, as they didn't finish laying the track (rolled clay) until about 1 hr before the start
mickthemuppet
I remember being on holiday in Majorca in 1971(?) and there was a Speedway meeting at San Pardo which I went to. I think the meeting was won by a Marshall Pugh who raced a few times in GB. I think nearly all the other riders were Spanish and there was a crowd of around 7,000 there.
