WPA OPEN CHAMPIONSHIP

WPA Health Insurance are sponsoring the first open competition for five years at Smallbrook, the WPA Open Championship is being held on Tuesday 2nd August. WPA are the fourth largest medical specialist insurance company in the UK who have been established for over 100 years.

 

Along with the Islanders regulars of Warwick, Simmons, Starke, Smith and Saunders King's Lynn Young Stars Lewis Kerr has been booked together with Hackney Hawks duo of revitalised David Mason and promising youngster Marc Owen. Former Islander Dean Felton makes a welcome return with Newport Hornets duo of Jay Herne and Matt Bates joining Stoke Potters Tim Webster to complete the line up.

 

As a not for profit company they cover, company, self employed, franchises, NHS cash benefits schemes and dental insurance. Supporting the Wightlink Islanders since the clubs foundation WPA appointed representative for over ten years, David Churchill will be trackside with his guests presenting the prize money at the end of the meeting said, "A good competitive field has been booked for a great night of speedway, the heat sponsorship will be donated to the Islands Earl Mountbatten Hospice and matched by WPA."

 

The riders will be racing for £500 prize money for the top four places after 12 heats, two semi's then the all important final. The prize money from WPA Health Insurance will be £225 for first, £150 for second, £75 for third and £50 for the fourth placed rider.

 

Line up (not in riding order);

Danny Warwick, David Mason, Nick Simmons, Tim Webster, Paul Starke, Rob Smith, Lewis Kerr, Jay Herne, Matt Bates, Marc Owen, Charlie Saunders, Dean Felton and meeting reserve Ross Walter.

MODS any chance of a redirect from the National League section for this if it really has to be in this section?

 

Most people won't know there is an individual meeting on at the Island and could presume that there is no meeting if they can't find anything in the National league section just like the Dudley Hammer individual meeting.
