World No.2 Jaroslaw Hampel sailed into the Polish Championship Final at his home track Leszno after winning his semi with a 15-point maximum in Ostrow on Thursday night.

The Grand Prix star, who races for his country in Event Two of the Speedway World Cup at King’s Lynn on Monday, has never won his national title. But the three-time silver medallist will hope to break his duck at the Alfred Smoczyk Stadium on August 15.

Hampel’s Polish World Cup team mate Krzysztof Kasprzak finished second at Ostrow on 13, while Michal Szczepaniak was third on 12.

Former SGP star Sebastian Ulamek was fourth on 11, while Mateusz Szczepaniak, Maciej Kuciapa, Grzegorz Walasek and Krzysztof Jablonski all made the cut on nine. Marcin Jedrzejewski took the reserve spot on seven.

Piotr Protasiewicz celebrated his return to the Polish national team by winning the other semi-final at Opole. He claimed victory on countback after finishing level with runner-up Maciej Janowski on 11 points. Zielona Gora young gun Patryk Dudek snatched third on countback with 10.

World champion Tomasz Gollob kept his bid for title No.9 alive by bagging 10, along with Piotr Pawlicki and Piotr Swiderski.

Przemyslaw Pawlicki and Tomasz Gapinski claimed the last two final berths with nine points apiece.

Former Polish champion Adam Skornicki beat Szymon Kielbasa in a run-off for the reserve place after they tied on eight.

I think Darcy was lined up before the postponment KK should become available to ride now-Polish final was postponed because Leszno are at home now on Sundayin the play-offs and 2 meetings on consectutive days wasn`t a good idea.

All night party-9.44am our time

It is 7.45am here and it is going to be 90F and humid here, so i have no guilt whatsoever in settling down in 15 mins for two hours plus and then watch a bit of tennis, back for the Polish Final and then there are some rugby matches on my subscription channel. So all in all a couch potatoes dream day. Join you shortly.

Best wishes. Alan.
