Heathens Make Double Change

Recommended Posts

Ohh big money heathens reach for the purse....

Oh - its got nothing to do with Richard Franklin going into hospital on Saturday for a knee operation then, and we have been forced to make changes? Some people really make me laugh - if it involves Dudley - let's shout it down.

Im glad for Brendan as well, he has his break finally on the main land where he may get the chance of taking on board a few more major sponsors. Also hopefull he will have a few team mates around him that will give him advice on set up and track craft as well.

Also well done JCookie for making him feel so welcome. Glad that the Dudley management dont think like you!!!!

Really pleased for Brendan. Come on Brendan lad you sho em. Also pleased for Adam although I do fear that if he doesnt hit max scoring points pretty sharpish, with out nearly killing himself in the name of entertainment, he will probably join JCookies list of desperados.

Why dont people just give the lads a chance.

Right, I've given myself plenty of time to digest the news. Rich out and Brendan in first. Clearly a change of necessity and I will quickly say best wishes to Rich. I hope the injury clears up quickly and you can get back on the bike after just a few weeks on the sidelines. On paper it's pretty much like-for-like although Brendan has a slightly higher average this season. But I'm not too sure it will turn out that way in the end. Rich has been very good just lately, and even his 6 last Tue doesn't really give credit to the performance. Monmore is not the easiest track for some riders to get to grips with and I've seen nothing from Brendan to suggest he can start scoring freely straight away. It's not his fault but he doesn't have the half a season you could afford a new rider, or a rider struggling for best form, at the start of a season. The season is half over and we need to build toward a big play-off push, starting right now! Something else that's not his fault is that I think signing him disrupts our team balance. Some of our boys have new averages, Brendan does not. With him in on his start average it means Darryl moves into the top 5. I would like to believe that our side was built with keeping him at reserve all season in mind. If not it should have been. :P All of that said I will support him, of course, as will the rest of the Heathen's faithful. So welcome Brendan. Get out there and prove me wrong!

Danny out and Adam in. I've been trying to work this one out since I saw the news break the other day. Put simply I can't. Danny was starting to look a little better and was justifying his place by outscoring his average. I admit I don't know a great deal about Adam but I don't think he's been given the 'wonderkid' tag by too many people. Again, he'll get my support but I'm disappointed for Adam.

With Armo suffering a bit of a loss of form, Kyle sometimes required elsewhere, Tom not consistently at his best and losing both Royno and Rich to injury I fear we may not be the threat we could otherwise have been. But we were a long time without our own team to support so win, lose or draw I'm sure the fans will turn out and enjoy the racing. And as long as everyone is giving it absolutely everything they've got they'll get the support from the crowd. :)

think you could go well on teusday with brendon at reserve against the team and place he rode last week, kyle goes well around the island and armo is allways good, the islanders with two new riders 1 has not a lot of experiance at speedway and the other will probably be rusty as hasnt sat astride a speedway bike since last season

Rider St-Ave Mat Rid Wins Sec Thi Las Pnts Bon Total Ave. Av-Bon Diff

Brendan Johnson 4.31 6 24 2 5 11 6 27 4 31 5.17 4.50 0.19

National league fixtures for the Islanders so Bren should now be showing a 4.50 average.

Brendan made plenty of friends riding for Cradley as a 'second half team' in 2009 and he will fit straight into the Heathens set up. I think this will be a new lease of life for a clearly very talented young rider. I like Brendan a lot, and I think he will score well and increase his average on what he's got for the IoW, especially with a run at reserve.
