I am sure it was but it wasn't 'packed out' as the commentators said.

There were parts of the ground where one could easily swing the cat and there were parts where it was more difficult but 5000 in a 7000 stadium isn't packed out.

Yes there was a good crowd but it wasn't full and that is what they kept saying.

Have you ever been to Tesco (other supermarkets are available), come home and said, "Tesco was packed!"

It wasn't was it.

Or bought something from a motorway services and said, "It's daylight robbery!"

It isn't is it.

Or watched your favourite rider score a maximum and said, "He's on fire!"

I bet he wasn't.

Maybe the commentators should have said, "Good crowd here this evening, it's 71.42% full, no question."

I wonder which one that could be?

A) nope

B ) nope

C) nope

Did not know I would have to take a quiz

Maybe the most sensible thing the guys could do is stop pretending that there are more people in the stadium than there obviously are (like Cardiff) and just say as you say there is a healthy crowd.

One thing I found strange about the TV meet on Monday was how those insane commentators kept saying it was a packed stadium when it obviously wasn't.

It was pretty packed from what I could tell, but what does always make chuckle is Pearson made the comment 'the crowd goes wild', the camera pans the crowd and all you can see or hear is the odd clap... Reminds of that film, 'Escape to Victory' where the German radio commentators play the 'crowd noise' into the radio'.

And then maybe someone would say that they were there, but had a very bad cold. So not really a healthy crowd after all!

I thought this was a joke when I read things on facebook this morning. Now I'm not sure!!!!

And for those that haven't worked it out - shouting BOMBER in the middle of Heathrow Airport is a mistake made only once!!

(If its true of course!)

Middlo's Facebook from this morning Sandie.

I saw some others but not Middlo's. I guess that is where it started!

I can just imagine Eddie seeing Chris walk in a set of doors and Eddie shout out -

"BOMBER over here"

You can imagine what happened next!

I shouldnt giggle but it did make me *safrican american* just a little bit! icon_lol.gif

Figure of speech is lost these days. This is just another example.

As for the Bomber thing

But they do. In principle, it's no different laying the bike down to get a re-run than laying the bike down to avoid a rider. It happens.

In principle it's different, laying the bike for safety means they are trying to avoid getting hurt more than they need to be. Laying the bike down for gain means risking injury where there was no danger of injury.

No you misunderstand. The principle of laying down a bike becomes second nature to riders (not all, although it should) and it really isn't a big deal to drop a bike in an incident where you know you aren't going to get any points because a rider has nudged you off line. It's a split second decision, do you keep it upright, knowing you'll probably be last or drop it hoping for a second chance? It does happen.
