Enjoyed the meet and GB did well.

Of course they won't get in the final but a good battling display would be nice.

Good to see the signs are Russia will compete rather than just be there.

They have an outside chance of winning the event.

Gizatulin will be a better choice than Artem Laguta. Should be a cracking meeting.

Pity Scotty is sitting it out but understandable.

One thing I found strange about the TV meet on Monday was how those insane commentators kept saying it was a packed stadium when it obviously wasn't.

Did they think they were doing a radio show.

It wasn't? It was pretty full from where I was stood - ok, you could squeeze more people in standing around. But for King's Lynn, that's pretty packed!

Up to a point, riders do lay their bikes down in order to avoid running into a fallen bike/rider in front. Call it the lesser of 2 evils to decide to come off in as controlled a manner as possible.

If you read on in that post or read subsequent posts you'd see i wasn't referring to putting the bike down as a matter of safety. I was referring to insinuations that riders risk putting their bikes down for gain.

I don't want to harp on about this though and become a drag so i'll leave it on this note. A planned putting down of the bike for gain could end up in a broken collar bone, leg etc etc and even mean end of your season riding. Playing percentages is too big a risk for these guys.

Well I guess life would be boring if we all agreed...... :)

You aren't alone as there have been a few recently who have the same opinion as yourself.... Personally I find it amazing that you can't see it happening occasionally

I think i'll start keeping a media folder of dubious incidents so I can wheel them out in such discussions

As for Troy..... if that incident is what started off this discussion ...... In his case I agree it is unlikely that what he did was on purpose as there are far easier ways to pull the wool......... locking up and almost highsiding is probably the last thing a rider would want to do.................. whether he was confused as to how he should pull the wool is a different matter :P

how the hell are bridger and barker going to get on, surely they will create an atmosphere

Even bigger problem with Kennett and Bridger!

Well they all won the title together last season, we just need Middlo to handle them correctly, as for our chances, dont rate em much.

It most certainly would.

Always happy to have my opinion challenged and sometimes changed :)

It wasn't but................Troy has apparently admitted he threw the race. I just don't think he meant to throw it in the manner he did. Even if he'd have ended up falling off in my opinion it wouldn't have been purposeful, just an accidental side effect.

No it wouldn't :P

Should be a good meeting on Thursday, although i dont think we will get to the final i feel it will be closer than most people predict.

I think we'll be close without ever quite really standing a chance. At some point we'll string together a couple of rides, the Sky team will go mad and then we'll have someone fall off or do something stupid and we'll end up missing 2nd by about 6 points.

And Middlo, DONT use the joker on a rider already in the race unless the gate is so much better than the others and the other 3 riders in the heat are hopeless.

But they do. In principle, it's no different laying the bike down to get a re-run than laying the bike down to avoid a rider. It happens.

According to the SGP site there were less than 5000 there.

A lot of empty space on my TV view.

KL holds about what 7000?

So NOT packed out at all as the commentators said.

Re the"packed stadium".It was,I will concede, not Black Hole of Calcuttaesque but I'm sure you will agree that a stray fart would not have remained undetected for long and any rotating feline would have had a headache before the first twirl was complete :wink:

Ps Last year it was reported that the crowd was near 6000 yet despite considerably higher advanced ticket sales and what looked a bigger crowd to me and numerous others it was announced as being less than 5000 this year?

Depends how pedantic you wish to be over the interpretation of packed out. It was packed out in my opinion, it didn't look like a poultry farm but it was definitely pretty full.

Well, it was pretty difficult to move far, and if you moved your spot was lost. As others have said, it looked busier than last year.

Boodiful piece of work.

It is comforting to know that someone, somewhere values my offerings.I'm aware that they may at times be considered to be off the wall but I like to feel I provide a contrast to the more factual, serious and thought provoking posts from KKS,Stevebrum and Shovvie etc :wink:

I am sure it was but it wasn't 'packed out' as the commentators said.

There were parts of the ground where one could easily swing the cat and there were parts where it was more difficult but 5000 in a 7000 stadium isn't packed out.

Yes there was a good crowd but it wasn't full and that is what they kept saying.

I wonder how much Emil would have put on the gate

and I wonder how much a bona fide Russian challenge would have put on the gate

Then it would have been packed out

Another thing I found quite disturbing was that I was able to understand Tomas Gollob better than Chris Harris and that can't be right can it?
