topsoil
They used to say happiness was 40-38. Berwick totally got out of jail by getting a 5-1 in heat 15. To be honest though the result was irrelevant to me tonight. Never actually saw Alex's crash because I was looking at Tyson Nelson laying it down to try and avoid Jade. you could tell it was serious straight away though because There was just a collective gasp then a horrible silence. Only hope Alex is okay. As for the meeting Kozza and Pepe were superb for Bandits, Seb and Lee turned their meetings around late on. For Rye House I was very impressed with Tyson Nelson. The race where Kozza went round him was worth the entrance money itself. Great to see Adrian back tonight.
BigRackBandit
Best wishes to the injured riders, especially Alex Edberg, as that was a truly sickening crash. Must say this was a terrible meeting with only two passes all night and they came in heat 11 and 12... but good to see Adrian Rymel back up in Berwick, shame he had to witness some terrible crashes and racing on his first time back since his testimonial. glycerol
From the official Berwick Website The Berwick Bandits management were able to breathe a sigh of relief in the early hours of Sunday morning as the initial reports on the condition of injured Swede Alex Edberg started to come out from Ashington’s Wansbeck Hospital. Having clipped the rear wheel of an opponent at Shielfield Park on Saturday night Alex was sent careering into and through the fourth bend fence receiving head and chest injuries that necessitated a rapid response ambulance ride through Northumberland to get him vital treatment. Come 1am the news, whilst still revealing multiple injuries for the young Bandit, was a whole lot better than initially feared. In the 1am bulletin it was revealed that Alex was fully awake and chatting freely with his doctors in a perfectly lucid manner and has full memories of the Heat Eight crash as well as his earlier one in the opening race. He has a broken collar bone and may have a chipped bone at the base of his back and cracked ribs. His arms and legs are moving perfectly and it would seem that his punctured lung is already re-inflating itself naturally. So all is looking well tonight and no further news is expected in the near future as all connected with Berwick Speedway again extend their best wishes to Alex on his recovery. Robinh88
As many have mentioned already the final score was of no importance. Managed to see Edberg for the 1st time and what a trier he truly is. Brundle was lucky because I dread to think we he'd have ended up had he went airbourne. Personally I thought the match should have been abandoned with effect from that smash. Not a track man but the riders were having difficulty with it all night. What happened to that surface we had in 2009? Get well soon Alex! Edited July 3, 2011 by Kris Boyd fan
redlead
Glad to hear Alex's injuries, although not good, are not as bad as they could have judging by the comments about the crash, hope he makes a complete recovery and is soon fit. bandit_watcher
Glad to hear Alex's injuries, although not good, are not as bad as they could have judging by the comments about the crash, hope he makes a complete recovery and is soon fit. If this is right then it is miraculous. Best wishes to Alex for a speedy recovery after what can only be described as a horror smash at almost full speed into the fence. I am sure everyone there last night will wish Alex all the best and get well soon.

bigeddiechek
Brilliant news, it is the most awful crash I have seen yet. Here's wishing Alex a speedy recovery, he's already become a star of the Bandits. I don't think the score is irrelevant, especially to the riders who clearly went out to win the match for Alex, and did, with some guts and style. Rye barely had a team left! Forgot to add it was a most mature performance by Tyson Nelson last night, different rider to the one I saw at Ashfield not long back

Forgot to add it was a most mature performance by Tyson Nelson last night, different rider to the one I saw at Ashfield not long back It was the first time I've seen Nelson, and after I saw him in heat two, I thought he looked out of control, but after he got heat two out of the way he looked very smooth and as you quite rightly said, he produced a mature performance. It means a lot for these guys to win, they have superb team spirit, and I am sure it will be a lift to Alex to hear that they pulled it back. Anyway, I'm not going to get dragged into this nonsense. Tsunami
Great to hear the progress and inprovement in Alex's situation since last night. I think I wouldn't have been the only one who thought the worse, given the reports and or non updates from last night. I fully endorse Bandits4life's reluctance to post details after the crash, it showed respect to the rider and his family, and the views of others to the contrary are totally irrelevant. I liked Alex from his riding at Brough for the Vikings, and was very pleased he signed, and was thrilling, the fans at Berwick with his swashbuckling style. Let's all hope Alex makes a full recovery soon and gets back to racing for the Bandits. Ironic and unfortunate for Adrian to have witnessed it.
