. Make the gate, job done & more often than not the racing was well spread out

Dudley can`t gate....they`ll have to learn to if they want to win anything this year

Their last few performances(and I include the match against Stoke last night)have been disappointing to say the least.

Not one of the better Young Stars meetings, but every club at all levels suffer poor meetings at some point.

There were some good individual performances, particularly those of Kyle Hughes, Jake Knight, Tom Stokes, Oliver Rayson, Jon Armstrong and the vastly improving Darryl Ritchings.

I hope the injuries to both Lewis Kerr & Scott Campos are of a minor nature, and that they'll be back riding very soon.

It looked a disappointing crowd, and I'm sure the away support out-numbered the home support, which is a credit to the Midlands club. Having said that, programmes were sold out, so maybe there were more in attendance than it looked.

I'm already looking forward to next weeks meeting against the Belle Vue 'Colts'.

Lewis has suffered a broken hand according to his Twitter

Really sorry for Lewis who is having awful luck with injuries this year. Ironically his fall in Heat 10 arguably won us the meeting. If he had stayed on to score a point then Dudley would surely have got an 8-1 in the next heat and the final result could have been very close indeed.

Impressed by Kyle Hughes who is a class act at this level of the sport. Good to see Jake getting his confidence back again. Good also to see so many Dudley fans making the long journey down to Norfolk - they certainly outnumbered the few home fans in the Royal Box last night!

Hope both Lewis and Scott make quick recoveries otherwise Dale is going to have real problems.

How frustrating. Kyle has been superb for us and I would have to say that I believe he could have scored 10 or more last night which would have swung the meeting our way. I'm sure in the long run his EL experience will be good for him on a personal note. But the truth is it's a step too far at this stage of his career. With that in mind, and being entirely selfish, it's frustrating to watch him on Updates struggle for points when he could have been winning the meeting for us instead. Hey-ho, it is what it is. Congrats to KL on doing just enough. Results like this will continue to tighten up the league which is good for it.

Truth is though, just turning up for Poole probably pays more than scoring a 15 point max in the NL for Dudley.

It probably does, and I'm sure he'll learn a hell of a lot if he's watching, listening and asking the right people the right questions when he gets a run out in the EL. I'll stress that my point was from an entirely selfish point of view. I do genuinely believe we'd have won with him, so it's frustrating. But them's the breaks. :)

As a footnote I believe that there's a rule that states where the NL club pays a loan fee it has priority so I assume we're not paying a loan fee for Kyle. Just out of interest I wonder if anyone can clarify this?

You may have won had Kyle have ridden, but don't lets forget that the Young Stars lost heat-leader Scott Campos from the meeting with injury, and at the least he'd have been good enough for 6-points. This would have meant 6-points more on the KL score and six of Dudley.

So what I'm trying to say, is if both teams had ridden at full strength, the chances are that the win would possibly still gone the way of KL on this occassion.

Anyway, good luck at the Isle of Wight next Tuesday.
