Anders
Why is it such a gater's paradise? Vetlanda want it that way. And why so i don't know, ask Anders he should know. It's one of the easiest tracks to ride in Sweden, I guess, once you get the set-up right. It's not a rutty trick-track that produces many mistakes by the riders, and if the leader rides without mistakes, it will be hard to pass. That goes for most tracks anyway. I do believe we want a bit more grip than what was at display on Tuesday, because of the riders in that line-up, only 2 or 3 of our riders gates well on a consistent basis. If we've had more grip, Andersen wouldn't have won either heats 2 or 11, as an example. All in all, one may criticize the Vetlanda track, but it provides the riders with a safe track, and being Clerk of the Course (for some of the Elitserien meetings), that certainly makes me happy. Also, we (Vetlanda) are not of the tracks that have been forced to cancel/abandon/postpone meetings because the track can't handle the required number of heats. And by that, I don't mean rain-offs, but meetings that (should) have been ridden in perfect weather conditions, but still not held full time. told you so, So why watch it? Personally, if I expect a meeting to be dull, I don't watch it. Guess that's just me... Just out of interest can our swedish friends say how well known are swedish speedway riders? Are they in local press,on tv chat shows etc. Thanks in advance Not particulary well known on the national stage I would say, and I can't remember one being on a national TV or radio show since the "Tony Rickardsson era", except post-meeting interviews in news broadcastings and such, of course. On the local stage, that's a different thing. Many teams are from small towns/cities, so the teams/riders get good coverage in local media, for sure. Fredrik Lindgren has made a commercial for a Vetlanda based charcuterie company (Stensåkra Charkuteri), which is one of his sponsors. I have seen the clip on , but I have no idea if the commercial was nationally broadcasted, or just regionalized. Can't remember anything else...
