Should be able to make this one MM, hope we can get some decent weather, and maybe get our revenge for last season, to be honest i will be disapointed if we dont.

Jeez 210, was that just after Brown,Bastable,Hart for us or around the same time ??.

Would that be from the 60,s.70,s.80,s or 90,s MM ?.

Looking back, I also remember Gote Nordin riding at the meeting, so I reckon it would be 1966 - and not long before we lost Ivor Hughes. Would be in Ivor Browns era certainly, but post Harry Bastable and John Hart (although I think JH could have been still riding at Sheffield?

Just as a side note, my first match was at the "Wood" in 1962 - the BBC "Best Pairs" held over 2 meetings in February. Still have the programme of the first leg, and Harry B and John H won the 1st leg, but I believe Ivor and Tony Eadon won the 2nd leg and the whole thing overall. And I been cheering the Heathens on ever since apart from the last 2 years the Wood and the Stoke season.

For those who are on their way to Cardiff for the GP on Sat June 25th a reminder that the night before there is NL action at Newport ...Hornets v Dudley Heathens at 7.30pm.

We don't want to turn up at 7.30pm and miss half the match.

The Newport website has nothing on the Hornets, but says its (Wasps) mtgs start at 7pm. - ?

So what is the start time ?

Depends, a fair track and good quality riders can mean that passing could be at a premium. On the other hand, if the meeting is full of gating specialists then you won't get much passing either.

Hmmm; Home win by 0 -5 by 6 - 10 or comfortable home win ??. Away win by 0 -5 by 6 - 10 or a easy away win ??. This is a difficult one to predict, could go either way, I guess Newport will have the better gaters,so i dont expect the Track to be set up for passing, last season we produced one of our worst away results so we owe MM and his merry men. I am going for an away win by 0 to 5. :t: The greater all round strength of The Heathens should be the important factor.

I have to say how well prepared the track at causeway meadows was last Saturday for the pairs and how well the whole meeting was organised given the prospect of rain threatening. Im looking forward to this Friday and hopefully better weather. Well done all concerned

An away win by 0 would be ok, but I'd settle for a 'draw'.
