SWEDISH ELITSERIEN ROUND 5

Tuesday May 31st 2011

INDIANERNA - HAMMARBY

at ICA-Maxi Arena, Kumla

Ryan Sullivan is back in the Indians' line-up after missing two meetings, with Henrik Gustafsson being dropped from tonight's meeting.

For Hammarby, it was meant that Renat Gafurov should've been in the line-up, but logistical problems made that impossible. Instead, Simon Stead makes his season debut.

DACKARNA - VALSARNA

at G & B Arena, Målilla

The Målilla team have opted for a couple of changes from the line-up that lost at Lejonen last week. Tomasz Chrzanowski and Artur Mroczka have been replaced with season debutant Robin Aspegren and Jurica Pavlic, with R/R for the latter, I presume.

For Valsarna, Adrian Gomolski makes his season debut after signing from Elit Vetlanda in the off season, replacing fellow Pole Tomasz Gapinski.

VARGARNA - ELIT VETLANDA

at ICA-Maxi Arena, Norrköping

The Wolves are looking to be at full strength for the first time this season, with Tai Woffinden makes his first appearence for Vargarna. After only 8 points in 9 heats in the 2011 season so far, Lee Richardson drops to reserve!

Elit Vetlanda have opted to keep the out-of-form Janusz Kolodziej out of tonight's line-up, as well as junior Jacob Thorssell. They're replaced by Martin Vaculik and Damian Balinski, the latter coming into the line-up instead of Patrick Hougaard, who was the management original choice, but who crashed in Poland on Sunday.

Vargarna (home)

Adrian Miedzinski

Kim Nilsson

Nicki Pedersen

Tai Woffinden

Krzysztof Kasprzak

Lee Richardson

André Hertzberg

Elit Vetlanda (away)

Thomas H Jonasson

Jaroslaw Hampel

Peter Karlsson

Jason Crump

Christian Agö

Damian Balinski

VÄSTERVIK - LEJONEN

at Stena Arena, Västervik

Live at Canal+.

The home side rides with the same seven riders for the fifth time this season, but Nicolai Klindt drops to reserve for the first time.

Several changes for Lejonen though, as Chris Holder is back in the line-up after the use of R/R last week. Also, Darcy Ward is - for reasons I don't know - being replace by season debutant Troy Batchelor in the main body, while Leon Madsen replaces Sebastian Aldén at reserve.

Västervik (home)

Adam Shields

Sebastian Ulamek

Chris Harris

Tomasz Jedrzejak

Peter Ljung

Nicolai Klindt

Pontus Aspgren

Lejonen (away)

Piotr Swiderski

Troy Batchelor

Chris Holder

Mikael Max

Dennis Andersson

Leon Madsen

David Ruud

*-*-*

All meetings should be covered via live updates on www.svemo.se/speedway, and the Västervik vs Lejonen meeting is tonight's TV meeting.

Enjoy!

Anders,

Thank you for giving us this preview. We are VERY fortunate on this section to have yourself and Ghostwalker giving us reasoned, informative posts about the Swedish scene. I look forward, as always, to my weeklyvisit to the land of the tall pines  ( We have a few here in Pennsylvania if you ever run short!)

Kindest regards. Alan.

We must not forget our original Smederna contingent,Tarabanko + Zetters.Pity Liverstam has left us, to give a Hammarby point of view. But Anders' previews are the best imo :approve: Not sure if i will watch this or the PL tonight though.Spoilt for choice

Ghostwalker has done an excellent job during the winter, and to the start of the actual racing season. I'll better start to pull my weight for Swedish speedway around here.

BTW Ghostwalker, should we make up some kind of schedule for the Elitserien previews? I could do all rounds in which Elit Vetlanda don't ride at home, because those weeks are busy anyway.

But Anders' previews are the best imo :approve:

You're too kind! :t:

I see it's a meeting from Somerset. I have only been there once, but it was fantastic racing then, and I would love to go there more times, but it's quite a drive from most of the tracks close to Stansted airport. I know I should promote Swedish speedway, but even I have problems to recommend another track ahead of Somerset, I must say.

Indeed. And i always like to keep track of the youngsters i have seen at the YGT for instance. And the Somerset team includes two young Aussies who appeared in Denmark.Masters + Davies. And of course added interest with Hefenbrock ;)

And just seen that the Euro U19 semi has been moved to Eskilstuna.Might be the right time to finally visit the home of my favourite Swedish team :approve: Sweden,Denmark,GB + Germany.Should be a great meeting

I guess that could work.

Agree wholeheartedly with the preview plaudits.

Whilst on the subject of knowledge of the local scene, please Anders (or any of our 'international correspondents') can you give us a little info on the type of track and potential quality of racing we are likely to get from Västervik.

Like myself there are clearly many more fans taking a keen interest in the Swedish Elitserien this year due to UK live TV coverage. Although, with Sky broadcasting a Tuesday meeting tonight it means watching two matches at the same time. With the Swedish/Premier Sports on on the tv screen and the Sky/Premier match on the PC with the superb Sky Player that gives excellent quality pictures.

OK off to track down the weather satellite links that Ghostwalker gave the other week which cover Sweden. I for sure bookmarked them but....where! lol.

Cheers Iris, I'm not completely off the radar. I check in from time to time, but usually don't bother to log on :)

Your input was always welcome.Even though i am also a Smederna fan,it is good to have the thoughts of other teams fans. The Swedish members here have always given a good insight into the sport there.Imo,probably the best group of foreign fans here.Pity we don't get much Danish input now.Garf seems to have left + Danishwebmaster + Peter S don't have much time i guess.Which only leaves Rasmus.

Lovely weather in Sweden.Bit grey and wet here.Fingers crossed for tomorrow as i head up to Denmark for a Superliga meeting with some of my favourite riders.Nicki,Nicolai,Kevin Wölbert + a chance to see young Loktaev :approve:

What better way to watch a meeting than at one of those startline trackside picnic tables?

These guys do it right!

One of my speedway ambitions is to sit at those tables and take in a meeting :drink:

Pleasant surprise to see such a dominant win by Harris there. Presume Holder will be making some mechanical adjustments mind.

do you actually see anything from those tables? At Smedernas meetings i usually sit fairly high up on the backstraight (seated)grand stand,

so that i can have a good view of the entire track and also a good view of the start/finish.Except when the weather is like this, then i prefer the main grandstand

since the other one will be too exposed to direct sunlight which makes it too hot and its a bit harder too see whats going on when you have the sun in your eyes.

I'm an opposite the stating gate back straight man myself, but i'd try it, even if just for one heat. Alan.

I agree.I think i would get neck or back ache as well. But i just want to sit there and drink a beer and see a few heats :approve: Don't think i could see a whole meeting from there

Didn't manage to grab the time pre-meeting to read up on the teams match reports as to how they have been performing, but don't think i would have expected a 18 point deficit for Lejonen at this early stage.
