Hope it's more fun than Johno's testimonial which ended up being very dull indeed.
Trees
Let's hope he thinks outside of the box and forget about the individual type meeting, something completely different and fun for all ..............

mcnabadam
Wow- that's a good line-up, hope it's just as good for the Bob Kilby Memorial Trophy. Actually, when is the Bob Kilby Memorial Trophy? Would far rather honour the complete Swindon legend that was Bob than support a journeyman who only rode one season for Robins. Don't understand why it's at Swindon at all. Guess they're hoping plenty of people will travel to Swindon for this one as a pre-Cardiff appetiser as I can't see many Robins fans going- I won't be for one. Good point haven't about the Kilby meeting. I know Bobs son was involved in the last one. If unable to do individual meeting then perhaps a swindon 7 against a Kilby select 7 or something. Might be a bad idea but just an idea. With regards to Johno isn't it because he lived locally and had close ties with the promotion, Leigh, Rosco etc? I don't see the harm, yes he was a journey man but his services to British speedway were pretty class, I don't think anyone denies he deserves a farewell meeting and if he lives locally and wants it here and Swindon are happy to stage it then why now? If it was a testimonial then I would agree but this farewell meeting is different in my opinion as a journeyman he is staying bye to the British fans in general opposed to one particular set of fans. spikethebike
What's the format of this meeting - GP style individual 16 riders plus 2 reserves? or two team event? how many heats? Who is replacing Sedgie now he's hurt?
ImpartialOne
Im sure the format is decided by now but what would be good with that line up is a 3TT: England Tai Woffinden Scott Nicholls Simon Stead Joe Screen GP All-Stars Chris Holder Jason Crump Greg Hancock Fredrik Lindgren Australia Darcy Ward Justin Sedgmen Cory Gathercole Rory Schlein
BongoBrian
Hmmm ... Think i'd place my bets on the GP All Stars side!
mcnabadam
Hmmm ... Think i'd place my bets on the GP All Stars side! Yeah, that did look a bit one-sided. How about a straight Swindon vs Rest of the World: Swindon Scott Nicholls Jesper B. Monberg Nicolai Klindt Maciek Janowski r/r Simon Stead Justin Sedgeman Cory Gathercole No. 8 Kenny Ingalls Rest of World Jason Crump Darcy Ward Greg Hancock Chris Holder Freddie Lindgren Tai Woffinden Rory Schlein No. 8 Joe Screen Note: I've included r/r for Janowski as it is impossible to believe Swindon would consider turning out with a full 1 to 7 for any fixture- even a benefit meeting. Score might be too close otherwise.
ImpartialOne
Yeah it did seem a bit of a one horse race but the sides went together well. Think Darky and Schlein would give them a run for it though.
