Cardiff Gp Street Displays

Recommended Posts

Last year, there were various stands and displays close to the Millenium Stadium, on one of the adjoining roads. Are there plans to repeat this this year, and if so, what can we expect to see?

Yes the event last year was a great addition to the day...haven't heard if its happening again for 2011 but think it may have been a 1 off last time for the 10yr anniversary

Also does anyone know if the stadium is open again on fridays practise day for ticketholders??

Roll on June 25th  Hope to see Scott Nicholls in as w/c

It was called 'Fanzone' and I think it is going ahead again this year. Greg Hancock tweeted about some band that are playing this year

Speedway spectacular to hit Cardiff’s Millennium Stadium

25th May 2011

Fast and furious family fun, the FIM Doodson British Speedway Grand Prix at Cardiff’s Millennium Stadium is right up there with the biggest events in the British motorsport calendar.

The fun will start in the Fanzone on St Mary Street (from 11am) and the Grand Prix will start with pre-event entertainment in the Millennium Stadium, followed by the Grand Prix and finishing with a fantastic firework display.

Its also Armed Forces Day and Cardiff will have a parade.

Hope other speedway fans can leave the pub for 10 minutes to get out onto the streets to show their support.

10 mins less of shopping to make sure I can and show support to our lads... of course :approve:

Should be a cracking day all in all.

Hope the 'man above' supplies us with a fine sunny day for all thats going on and make it a success for the organisers and fans alike. Was a brill event on the fanzone last year, glad its back. Wonder will the robot be back?

Hopefully the new screens and sound system will only "help" Stacey Solomon sound ok too when we get inside ...and a British win again would top it off nicely. Come on Scotty or Chris (don't mind which!!)

From speedwaygp.com

To build up to Saturday evening's World Championship action, which gets underway at 5pm, the British SGP Fanzone takes over St Mary’s Street from 11am.

The highlight of the event is a star-studded autograph signing with world champion Tomasz Gollob, Britain’s Chris Harris, Cardiff wild card Scott Nicholls and last year's British SGP winner Chris Holder at 3.30pm. There will also be vintage speedway bikes on display, plus performances from Titan the Robot and the Magoos, a chance to meet the grid girls and much, much more.

Those who can’t wait for 16 of world speedway's daredevils to put everything on the line in search of Cardiff gold will not want to miss the Globe of Death, which will be just outside gate three. The motorcycle stunt team will perform at 2pm, 3pm and 3.30pm.

The Millennium Stadium turnstiles open at 3pm and former X Factor finalist Stacey Soloman provides the pre-meeting entertainment at 4.20pm, before the main event gets underway with the rider parade at 5pm and race one at 5.15pm.
