Jayne
Really enjoyed the 30 heats of speedway action tonight. Was good to see the meeting moving along at pace, even at the start when the rain was pouring. Was really pleased Buxton grabbed a point too. Some great racing action all round and another great advert for tne National League. According to the BSPA results it was 50-43 so all three points to Sheffield/Scunthorpe. Some great racing action all round and another great advert for tne National League. From a Stoke perspective, darn Redcar getting called off! Richie Worrall was the difference tonight between us and them! As for the racing, got a bit processional at the start and end (Rain then a slick track after 25+ heats!) but heat 11 of the Buxton meeting was worth the admission alone! spin king junior
Good performance from the Prowlers in both meeting, with a little bit of help from Redcar! Obviously the conditions had an impact on the quality of racing but we did have the odd few races which we're spectacular! Have to say it's a welcomed change to see the odd National league meeting at Owlerton and I for one really hope the connection between the two clubs continue on to next season
montie
Huge well done to the Saints, thoughly dserved full match points on what was a tricky track early on,and well done to Sheff on a slick race night, THe Worral twins were a class apart but special mention must go to Gary Irving, beat riders all night when the presure was on,thye way they kept there heads in that latter stages of the Stoke meeting when they nudged in front was very impressive Good to see Lambert walk away from what looked an awfull crash and get back on his bike Starting to feel very sorry for Paul Cooper, clearly not fit and low on confidence, only way is up i guess Top of the league!!!!!!!!!!! Would love to see a video clip of the race , a few regular sheffield supporters were saying it was the best race there for many a year. Full credit to the riders who just got on with the job in what were trying conditions early on. No good up and coming British speedway riders, i dont think so. Fozzie4388
That is good news. The first hand reports from King's Lynn were terrible. Stefan is a lucky boy. Certainly is Great News. When i was talking to him last night. His actual words were 'My Face and Shoulder are sore but I've had 2 concussions before this is my 3rd there nothing. I may miss out Stoke on Saturday but i'll be back Monday as sitting around doing nothing doesnt earn me money. Edit: He's now been told he has got to take 7 days rest so wont be riding after all. high edge
i was realy proud of all the Buxton team they naver gave up.And we where very unlucky not to grab a point.Robs ride in heat 11 was brilliant the way he got Jason to the front was class. If we had started the meeting like we finnished it we would have won.once again thanks lads for a great effort. Jack Got to agree with you, after looking as though Buxton were going to get hammered at the start of the meeting, to come back and make a meeting of it, in what was racing in pretty hard conditions. Heat 11 was a fantastic advert for National League speedway, Jason Garrity doing what he does best winding the throttle on,.but you have to admire the intelligent riding from Rob Branford great riding from a lad so young. Chopper Heat 11 was spectacular, but Rob's ride around the outside of the Sheffield boys in Heat 15 was real seat of the pants riding! And at the time I thought the Hitmen had won a point because of the 5-1 in Heat 15. The fact that the Hitmen couldn't win a point from the meeting by Heat 15 makes his ride even more spectacular! Go Rob. Edited May 28, 2011 by Killer Cat from Mars

Jack Not sure any of them knew what was happeninmg on the last bend to be honest, but if branford meant to get garrity to the front it was a marvelous ride, still not sure he meant it. Dont think i have ever seen a race where three riders changed position on virtually the last bend though

Dont think i have ever seen a race where three riders changed position on virtually the last bend though He was very aware what was going on, thats why he started looking behind after two laps when he had a big lead and slowing the race down. Thats how team riding is done, great ride even if i do say so myself. Chopper

DukesGreg
Bit of a late addition to this thread, but I really enjoyed this meet. Wet and processional early doors, but it really got going once the weather and track settled. Garrity was poor in the wet until that ride, he had 3 points on the board before that (and every one of them was gifted via falls or engine failures... he was well off the pace) then he sprung to life in that amazing see-saw race... worth the admission fee alone. Full credit to Lambo in the second meeting, nasty crash followed by some unbeaten rides, fair play to the lad. The Worralls were very good, and there was some nice displays and rides. It's a predominantly young, and of course British league, and this was great to watch. I caught Scunthorpe v Buxton last season in the Scunny/Sheffield double header last year, and loved the standard back then. I'd take having a National League track near me, West Yorkshire is dry of speedway, and somewhere local to drop by and watch this league as well as nipping to Owlerton on a Thursday would be ideal. It's speedway, it's entertaining, and these lads are desperate to do well as they aspire to be the next generation of riders. I'll catch as much as I can of the National League. Felt for Paul Cooper, he was actually on the pace most of the time, had a couple of falls and engine troubles, if he tried 100 percent as opposed to 130 percent, he'd probably (no... definitely) not be prone to falling / slipping and errors, and would consolidate more points. Overtrying probably ruined his display, and of course he got dropped in a race for the very impressive Worrall at reserve. He won't be hanging around the lower divisions for much longer... on this display. I think that double headers are great at this level. And more importantly, there was a decent turn out by the fans. More please. Edited May 28, 2011 by DukesGreg

DukesGreg
It didn't look that decent from where I was stood? Well mate, I was expecting less people to be there, if you factor in travelling costs etc., this was possibly one on the fixture list that was easy to miss if you were dropping a fixture. I though that for a 3rd tier meeting, it was a decent enough turn out. I wouldn't expect the crowd to be anywhere near that of a PL meet. squall
Anyone come across a video clip of heat 11. Chopper Best bet would be to beg Bob Tasker (GRT Media) or buy the DVD for £6 (£6 is usual price, not sure if it'll be a bit extra for a double header)
