NOBBY
SWINDON’S staging of the Great Britain v Australia Test next week has been postponed, according to the BSPA website. This is apparently due to rider availability for Thursday, June 2, now being 'a major stumbling block with a conflict of fixtures making life difficult for the team managers'. Well the only fixture I can see that clashes with the Test Match next Thursday is Birmingham v Coventry so is it that bad now that one meeting completely stuffs an International Test match ????? Maybe I am missing some fixtures elsewhere or were their some Premier League riders involved ???
MattK
Seems very strange. I don't know who is lining up at the Ipswich meeting, but the only other riders who would be unavailable that night and realistically riding would be Kennett and Sweetman for Coventry. Bagpuss
The situation is a shambles, and unfortunately synonymous of the way Team GB is handled.
Sir Jasper
Organise a test series now, for next season, advise all clubs not run meetings on the dates that have been picked, a bit of forethought and planning would do wonders for British Speedway. Well the only fixture I can see that clashes with the Test Match next Thursday is Birmingham v Coventry so is it that bad now that one meeting completely stuffs an International Test match ????? Maybe I am missing some fixtures elsewhere or were their some Premier League riders involved ??? I assumed the problem was Poland, as usual. What's happening to the deal where you could buy one ticket for all three meetings at a significant reduction? I think it was meant to be about £35, wasn't it? I'm sure it was mentioned when these Tests were first announced. I was trying to find out more about it at the weekend but could find no mention on the BSPA, Poole, Swindon or Arena websites. Something that was conveniently forgotten when they realised that Poland (probably) was going to lead to Swindon's cancellation for the third time this season? iris123
Well it is a Bank Holiday here in Germany and i did hear the other week that Darcy Ward was down to ride in the Bundesliga that day in Wolfslake.Have to wait and see if that is true and if one or more of the others will be riding over here Edited May 24, 2011 by iris123
Khabiboulin
Test match or extremely minor league? Clearly an easy choice. What a joke British speedway is.

Fixture wise probably not exactly helped by late inclusion of two teams to EL, but 'nuff said on that.
ImpartialOne
Pointless meeting anyway. It is if you aren't interested in seeing a successful GB team any time soon. One of the reasons GB has fallen behind is the lack of these meetings to give the fringe riders experience. You said the same thing on the semi final thread but the same applies. alan_boon
This was the list I came up with of riders who may haver missed the meeting: Swindon - James Wright/Joe Screen, Danny King, Ben Barker, Eddie Kennett, Nick Morris, Richard Sweetman/Travis McGowan, Troy Batchelor, Dakota North, Tai Woffinden, Ty Proctor, Josh Auty, Shane Parker, Ricky Ashworth, Hugh Skidmore, Gary Havelock, Aaron Summers, Jason Lyons, Adam Roynon. I still thought it left enough to have: Harris, Nicholls, Bridger, Allen, Cook, Wright/Screen, Stead, Frampton Ward, Holder, Schlein, Woodward, Shields, Doyle, Watt, Grajczonek

How many meetings of this type do the other countries have? There isn't a great deal of potential world beaters available for GB, and if there were they'd be at a good level already. MattK
Harris, Nicholls, Bridger, Allen, Cook, Wright/Screen, Stead, Frampton Ward, Holder, Schlein, Woodward, Shields, Doyle, Watt, Grajczonek Which are pretty much the teams I was expecting - except for a bit more of a Swindon "favour" (Gathercole/Sedgmen) about the Australians

Realistically the best you can hope for is to attached around 75% of the usual Swindon crowd.
Trees
Aww let's have it at Lynn then on an available night Realistically the best you can hope for is to attached around 75% of the usual Swindon crowd. What's wrong with Swindon fans, I'd wouldn't miss this any more than I'd miss a Lynn EL meeting! Shame we couldn't run them over consecutive Sundays or even better Saturday nights like the old days Edited May 24, 2011 by Trees

Exactly. And once 1 or 2 of the top names pull out, then you are looking at a poor crowd but still having most of the outlay of an EL meeting
