Travel to Lakeside from Poole is a pain is the backside, whichever route I take! I generally go anti clockwise.

This season,Ive been there twice. Both times I left at 2pm.

1st time it took me 2.5 hrs,to get within 2 miles of the Dartford Tunnel. Then another 45 minutes to travel the rest!

The next time I went up,it took me 2.5 hrs and never even stopped at the tolls, the traffic was so free running. Never had such a trouble free drive.

A few seasos ago,it took nearly 5 hours to do the same journey!

Greyhound....if you get there before 5.30pm,the main gates to the Arena are generally locked.(Riders use a different entrance).Id suggest calling in at the M25 Thurrock Services, from where you can see the Arena.

Looking forward to meeting you Dudley fans.See you at Lakeside,Scunny,Dudley or Belle Vue this coming week.Im doing 7 meetings in 6 days!!

Well I did the opposite journey many times over the past two years - living near Lakeside and supporting the Buccs...: anti-clockwise for the journey from Dorset to Arena Essex is surely the ONLY sensible way!!

Good news that you'll be there on Friday Bob - will be good to meet up! :approve:

Any one know the programme price on Friday ?

As on Lakeside Website it still says TBC.

I know there's a stand-alone prog as I'm writing for it - it'll be eight pages fully Hawks-branded! :approve: Price tbh I don't know but can't imagine it being prohibitive!!

Crowd likely to be pretty poor i would think, of the 8 or 9 i stand with only maybe two or three are even considering going, the rest have said they are not interested in the Hackney stand alone meetings at all.

For anyone coming to this one suggest a pretty nifty get away if you can especially if you need to go home via the M25 anti clockwise and if the meeting can be done and dusted before 9:45 as there is currently road closures being imposed around the area after 10 at night (mainly slip/access roads) and its an absolute pain in the neck if you need to go anti clockwise on the M25 because they send you over the border into Kent in order to effectively do a U turn, i went a quicker way last week but still ended up taking me over an hour to do a simple 30 min journey.

From the time you hit the M1/M25 junction it should take around 45 minutes to Lakeside for the 42 mile journey allowing for the 50mph speed restrictions through the roadworks.

I wouldn't guarantee that sort of time. The traffic has been pretty good so far this season but it not always like that. It can take twice that time so if you want to be sure of the start best to aim to get there early and have something to eat.. The shopping centre is only 5min away so you can go in there and get something to eat or Tracey's Diner in the stadium is quite reasonable in quality and price as stadium food goes (not exactly Rye |House but 100 times better than the muck they serve up at places like Peterboro or Coventry).

Probably worth pointing out that being a bank holiday and the start of a school half term the roads will be even worse than on a normal Friday evening so what ever figure you have in mind for getting along that stretch of the M25 i would at leaast triple it, its not unheard of for the whole area around Jnc 30 to get completely gridlocked on these occasions (roads directly surrounding stadium included) i only have to go from Chelmsford and i dont use the M25 going there but will still need to allow best part of 80 mins to get there if history repeats itself.

Just noticed no Ben Morley for the Hawks, who can take his rides - is it just David Mason and the reserves?

Ben is riding at Edinborough with the Rockets and yes David and the reserves take the rides..Though Ben is shown at the top of the Hawks averages at the moment the new averages have not come into force yet, to my knowledge ,and may indeed change before they do..Of course with the weather in Scotland at the moment not being good he could still ride for the Hawks in the event of a very early cancellation there..With Shane going really well and David suited to Lakeside this may not present a problem points wise..Though i suspect Ben will be missed..Dudley are a strong team and i anticipate a close encounter between two basicly young teams...

Hackney to win on the basis that it takes you a race to learn how to ride Lakeside! As proven against Stoke, those first 4 heats are a killer!

Ah, but doubtless Messrs Perry and Morris will be passing on their experience from last month's British U21 final. :approve:

DAWN RACEDAY WEATHER CHECK:

Far too early in the morning for me but, here just across the other side of the Thames from the track it's dry but a little cloudy although no rain forecast.

Had rain late afternoon yesterday in the form of a heavy thunderstorm which should have helped track prep.

Next update circa lunchtime direct from track

Is there anyone going to this meeting who would be able to text updates to the updates site? If so, could you please either leave a message here or send me an email or pm.

Thanks

To be fair, I could pass on the knowledge now. Stay on the inside, turn the bike twice and whatever you do, don't drift wide! :D

(I appreciate I went on a bank holiday Monday, and it was the second meeting of a double header,so the track was slightly...dry!)
