ImpartialOne
Why make this thread sound like fact? Needs a question mark. A british wild card will put more bums on seats than Ward and I think IMG will bear that in mind.
Starman2006
I think Darcy Ward as wild card at Cardiff ,in his form, would bring in some more people to watch speedway ??????????? Mate would be very nice, but it won't happen. He is nailed on for a wild card, but it won't be at Cardiff, unfortunately.

I think we'll be more likely to see him as a replacement for an injured rider, similar to Davey Watt last season. BSI/IMG definitely want to see him in the GPs, the sooner the better. There was a huge push for him for the first GP.

Rules have been set for the season, end of. They did not change the rules last year when Watt was shafted by Portasiewicsz but they did change them during the close season so it cant happen again. I thought they'd changed the rule, you don't have to have a wildcard from the country of that particular GP. ie at least one of Polands GPs could have a rider from another country. Yes that is correct but there is no chance Darcy will be wildcard for Cardiff that goes to winner of British Final (or 2nd if Harris win it) to make sure 2 British riders at Cardiff. Think Darcy will get one somewhere, possibly Torun?

But it will still be a Brit I have no doubt about that.
f-s-p
Isn't it common knowledge and an advertised fact that the British champ will get the noed for Cardiff? And that's what I meant, you can get handpicked, but not over Magnus Zetterström or any other reserve.

cometsfan2k4
Surely it will be the winner of the British Final (or 2nd if Harris wins)?? I cannot see any reason at all for changing this!? And it was also discussed at length with Scott Nicholls the other week on Sky when they were talking about him at the British Final and him wanting to get back to Cardiff. cometsfan2k4
oh yeah... and this is also, i just noticed, confirmed on the landing page of the BSPA site, where it shows the advert for the British Championship with the line "Featuring the Best of British chasing the top domestic honour AND a place in the Cardiff Grand Prix". So I guess that is case closed

Nutz
Mate would be very nice, but it won't happen. He is nailed on for a wild card, but it won't be at Cardiff, unfortunately. I for one am pleased. We need to look after our own in this country, and if that means sticking by our guns of a Brit taking the GP spot via qualification from the British final, then so be it. Why should we recommend it go to an Aussie? This way, a Brit has the incentive to push hard in the British Final, as there's a prize worth fighting for at the end of it. I think we'll be more likely to see him as a replacement for an injured rider, similar to Davey Watt last season. BSI/IMG definitely want to see him in the GPs, the sooner the better. As other's have said, injured/unavailable riders will be covered by the GP reserves who qualified by right to be the next in line should a rider unfortunately miss a GP. As for BSI/IMG definitely wanting him in? Where do you get this information from??? I'm sure if BSI/IMG want Darcy in they'll get him in somehow. There was a huge push for him for the first GP. A huge push... from whom? I thought they'd changed the rule, you don't have to have a wildcard from the country of that particular GP. ie at least one of Polands GPs could have a rider from another country. Very true, they could, but they won't! If Ward gets awarded a wildcard, it will be outside Poland. I don't think even that is the case this year. I'm almost certain the Cardiff Wild Card will be hand picked this year. But it will still be a Brit I have no doubt about that. Again, wrong. The Cardiff wild-card will be the next best from the British Final.
