millersfan444
Is the Ferjan who did well to reach the semis any relation to the one who is doing so poorly for Newcastle ?
Smallmead 1975-2005
Is the Ferjan who did well to reach the semis any relation to the one who is doing so poorly for Newcastle ? Yes It was Matej Ferjan, and in the final it was Martin Smolinski, who scored 14 points in the World Team Cup Qualifier on Sat, beating Greg Hancock twice and Matej Kus, who is doing well for Redcar. 21st century heathen
I've mentioned him a few times since he left our shores. I think he could do a job over here again. But there have been a handful of riders on a 4.00 that have attracted the attention lately. Time it was changed to 6.00 but that's not for this thread. Good on him for winning this meeting and perhaps a few Promoters will have noticed the result.

SCB
Where did he ride last, Reading? Peterborough. Not sure if he managed 8 meetings though.
Smallmead 1975-2005
Peterborough. Not sure if he managed 8 meetings though. He only managed 6 meetings at Peterborough in 2007 before his bad accident in Hungary. His last official average at Reading was 4.
SCB
Thats only 7.4 in the PL though. He'd be capable of adding a point to that. Was always impressed when I watched Sam and am surprised he's not kicked on more in his career.

Was always impressed when I watched Sam and am surprised he's not kicked on more in his career. How does this work out to a 7.4 PL average?? After his neck injury in 2008, Reading closing etc, it took him a while to get back to fitness and to get some money for new equipment. I think it is just a case of someone taking a chance on him now. I agree he would be good for 8-10 points or even more in the premier League. IronScorpion
I think people are confused with the d/up of .6. From PL to EL is 3/5(.6) of their average. From EL to PL some still apply the .6 using 1.6 but it is actually 5/3 which is 1.67. 4.44 EL ave equates to 7.4 PL ave 7 not 7.104 which some might think. Not too sure but if you have been out injured & not raced for a while you might still get a reduction(although this might only apply to British riders) or having not raced in the British leagues for a while.
