Dudley Heathens - Team Changes

Recommended Posts

So its Kyle Newman in to replace the injured Adam Roynon. And with Kyle's average slightly higher than Adam's, another change was required.

Luke Chessell unfortunate to be released because of the numbers game (what would Dan McCormick say) but we welcome Danny Stoneman as new number 7.

Issues... sounds like some people (in the Peak District region) questioning the eligibilty of Newman riding in all three leagues, but this appears to have been checked out and there is nothing preventing this happening. Should be great practice for a young British rider who probably won't have much of a look-in at Elite level anyway.

Stoneman was filling in at Mildenhall while they wait for the Aussie import. Sounds like he has 'stood down' from the Fen Tigers team, rather than wait around on the temporary team place.

Welcome aboard both Kyle and Danny - two young Brits, with a heartfelt good luck to the unlucky Luke.

I presume you mean me but rightly or wrongly it has happened, its all about opinions and interpretations in the end.

The letter of the law has clearly been checked out by Dudley but I don't believe the spirit of it has been offended either. Presumably the rule's intention is to stop EL veterans who may be on the slide picking up easy points in the bottom tier (although the pay scales would surely not be that attractive in any event) and occupying a team space in a league with a development brief. Here we have a promising young British rider picking up the occasional bonus of EL experience when the senior double-up rider (Hefenbrock) is not available. That can only be good news. The other aspect is that the PL fixtures split leaves a bit of a hole which Newman can plug with his Dudley commitments.

It isn't about whether a rider rides in all 3 leagues, it's about a breach of the rules by 'being named' in teams 1-7's in all three leagues. It appears that Dudley were able to get it through.

Hope Luke finds a team place soon (with the way that the Buxton reserves are performing at the moment, I'd snap him up) as he would be a good signing, just unlucky with the averages like many before him.
