hatcham
Â You don't seriously think it should continue? Â Why not? it began in pouring rain, and continued in pouring rain, so to abandon it with more than two thirds of the meeting over is just an insult. manchesterpaul
Love the way Sky now saying "Chris Holder OF COURSE is the winner of the grand prix"!!! Â Well excuse me! but try telling that to your graphics department and studio team. Are you really unable to programme software to such a basic degree? I am not remotely educated in computer programming software or website design, however, i've enjoyed years of my own spreadsheets etc. compiled on a need to do basis which, shockingly, still continues to keep me CORRECTLY informed on so many levels. Â OK girlfriend pleased we setting off earlier than expected for a night out lol, i still enjoyed the GP despite the weather having such a bad effect. hans fan
It should've been called off before it got to the stage of a result being declared. Terrible treatment of the paying public by BSI. They paid to watch twenty-three heats, not sixteen heats on an abortion of a track just so a result could be declared. for once i have to agree it was a farce theres no way they would have rode in those conditions in any league match

TRY telling that to the riders. If you seriously think conditions were the same at the start (when at least everyone in the pits was dry as were bikes and equipment) as after Heat 16 then I can only imagine some rain has got into your brain.  It rained, it happens, it is NO ONE'S fault.
iris123
I WILL write this very slowly ... the decision whether to start, continue or stop rests with the FIM officials. I said earlier it was crazy to continue. If that wasn't a GP it would have been called off far far earlier. The riders wouldn't have continued if it was an EL meeting. The FIM know the importance of trying to continue with the meeting rather than call it off.Unless they knew the rain was going to stop, it was daylight robbery that Dick Turpin would have been proud of

You don't continue to the point you can get a result and then call it off, having had people paying good money to watch rubbish and then add insult to their injury by robbing them of seven races. I don't know how you can defend such a decision. I know you belong body and soul to BSI, but what about the punters who buy your magazine? Don't they count? It is a complete and utter insult..

philip all weather forecasts + the radar images (which actually shows what the weather is like) showed that it was going to continue to rain all evening despite that they started as it would been a dry meeting. So i have to agree with ladyluck this time the meeting should not have been started at all. Edited May 14, 2011 by Ghostwalker
manchesterpaul
Ladyluck with respect i seriously am starting to wonder if you have mental health issues lol.  It is very rare i ever notice or glance as to has made a post. I solely react on the contents of a post and not the poster.  I couldn't help but notice the other day your name was cropping up on odd/contrasting views to the general concensus and.....more significantly....finding a negative aspect in 99% of cases on a topic.  You clearly seem to be one of those people who if found a five pound note in the street would respond by moaning that you know of someone who a few years ago found a ten pound note.  I've just done a recent search on your posts and it is negative....negative....negative....critical....critical....critical.  Let's be clear the riders who 'performed' tonight, to such levels that they did, deserve utmost respect. I could go on but helllll end of.....utmost respect accredited and i'm off for a good night out, pleased that i saw as much entertainment as could be expected in the conditions.  For goodness sake we only got one life as far as we know and if speedway displeases you to such an extreme extent.....gooooooo away and find something that gives you joy and not untold misery and angst lol  If this fantastic sport displeases you so much....please leave it and let the rest of us enjoy it.  I certainly will be critical and come down heavily on things that i consider damaging to the sport but.....wow.....i don't think i've ever come across a case of the opposite example of 'every cloud has a silver lining' as yourself lol. salty
Looked like the right decision to call it off as the weather was showing no sign of relenting and conditions had got considerably worse. As usual the authorities are damned if they do and damned if they don't. Hope Crumpy is OK.
ladyluck
Looked like the right decision to call it off as the weather was showing no sign of relenting and conditions had got considerably worse. Â The weather showed no signs of relenting from the start. Probably from late afternoon. Of course it was the correct decision to finally call a halt, but it should never have been allowed to start in the first place. Now, Jason Crump is in hospital. mothorsen
I hate rain meetings, but at least some of the heats provided some exitement. Too bad they had to pull out after 16 heats, but what can you do... It was pouring down. However, I get the feeling that they were going "hold on! Just to heat 16! We won't have to do a re-run!". Give them jet-skis and let them finish, dammit And Holta? I thought he was getting better. He didn't convince Tuesday, and certanly not tonight. I hope he gets his act together sooner than later. I enjoyed seeing Lindbäck kicking ass.

WHETHER (no pun intended) or not it was right to start at least get your facts right. These decision rest with the FIM. Of course BSI are consulted, there are huge implications for them regarding TV as well as those in attendance, but the decision is taken by the FIM Jury. And, if it comes to a vote, not even the Race Director is involved. Only the Jury President, the referee and the FIM representative of the host nation can vote.
