ladyluck
Well, if Mr Rising's rumours turn out to be premature facts, this coming Sunday could see the last hurrah of the "old silencer" in Poland. As usual there are two televised fixtures, with Unia Tarnow hosting Unibax Torun starting at 4:00pm BST, followed by the big derby meeting as Stal Gorzow host Falubaz Zielona Gora at 6:30pm BST. Life doesn't get any easier for pointless Tarnow, as they'll have to go very well to get anything out of the meeting against an impressive Torun team, which includes former "Swallow" Rune Holta. It should be a great warm up, but the main event is certain to be in Gorzow, where the home team will be hoping to bring Falubaz's winning start to the season to an abrupt end. The atmosphere is likely to be "white hot" and hopefully the action will match it. The other Ekstraliga meetings see Unia Leszno host Sparta Wroclaw and Wlokniarz Czestochowa host Marma Rzeszow. HenryW
TBH, given the fact that none of the main Poles have stayed away from the Swedish League, it seems that the efforts to retain the old silencers in Poland are doomed to failure. You are certainly correct that the Zielona Gora match at Gorzow should be a cracker. I can't imagine Gorzow using anything other than their strongest team for this derby match, so assume that we can expect to see the return of ZZ for Hans. Extra rides for Gollob, Pedersen, Zagar and Iversen probably makes them stronger than with Hans in the team, never mind Mroczka. Those extra outings for the top men could just be the difference between the two sides...

Not possible, HW. Andersen was so terribly poor in his two meetings for Gorzow that he is not one of the five riders eligible to be covered by ZZ. Unlike in the UK, rules mean something in Poland. Ahhh...I had missed the fact that Hans had dropped out of the top 3 in their side. I thought that they had just decided to give Mroczka a run out in their "easy" match at the weekend. Losing the ZZ facility for Hans does weaken them significantly, but will it be enough for Falubaz to take advantage? I certainly hope so

In all honesty, if the club continues to do well, Andersen could struggle to find a team place when he's fit again. It seems that Gorzow are not entirely thrilled with his attitude and performances. The club's outspoken president Władysław Komarnicki has spoken, I believe, of Torun not being too upset at losing Andersen and of Gdansk having problems with the Dane. In addition, Komarnicki wasn't very sympathetic when it came to Andersen's injury.
ladyluck
The Dullard becomes the latest rider to fall foul of the Tarnow management, as, following a string of poor showings in the Ekstraliga, he's dropped in favour of compatriot Leon Madsen for the visit of Torun: http://translate.googleusercontent.com/translate_c?hl=en&sl=pl&u=http://www.sportowefakty.pl/zuzel/2011/05/04/madsen-zastapi-pedersena/&prev=/search%3Fq%3Dsportowefakty%2Bzuzel%26hl%3Den%26rlz%3D1G1TSEA_ENUK335%26prmd%3Divns&rurl=translate.google.co.uk&usg=ALkJrhiqyaMmYFaSWqgEbdEn_tAWgSyRLw

ladyluck
Just to whet the appetite for Sunday's big derby fixture in Gorzow, sportowefakty.pl presents a potted history of recent clashes between Stal and Falubaz in the grandstands, together with links to stories of times when it all got a little out of hand: http://translate.googleusercontent.com/translate_c?hl=en&sl=pl&u=http://www.sportowefakty.pl/zuzel/2011/05/06/lubuskie-derby-na-trybunach/&prev=/search%3Fq%3Dsportowefakty%2Bzuzel%26hl%3Den%26rlz%3D1G1TSEA_ENUK335%26prmd%3Divns&rurl=translate.google.co.uk&usg=ALkJrhjPRoANuNxuXYlWmySYJ5uA4Iwt8Q Meanwhile, sportowefakty.pl also presents an interview with the charismatic and often controversial president of Falubaz, Robert Dowhan: http://translate.googleusercontent.com/translate_c?hl=en&sl=pl&u=http://www.sportowefakty.pl/zuzel/2011/05/06/zbyt-wiele-przykrych-rzeczy-spotyka-nas-od-miasta-rozmowa-z-/&prev=/search%3Fq%3Dsportowefakty%2Bzuzel%26hl%3Den%26rlz%3D1G1TSEA_ENUK335%26prmd%3Divns&rurl=translate.google.co.uk&usg=ALkJrhghBjHed3xGfYqrbXVNpiGxuuqi5A A hero to some, Dowhan seems to be viewed with suspicion by others, even among the Falubaz fanbase. It is thought that he harbours political ambitions and uses the more fanatical elements of the Falubaz support as a means of bullying the local authorities. ladyluck
For this weeks line-ups http://live.sportowefakty.pl/ekstraliga.htm and click on one of the teams It seems we could be down to just one televised fixture on Sunday. It all depends on the SGP qualifier in Krsko. The SGP qualifier is scheduled for Saturday, but in the event of weather problems the reserve day is Sunday and that will lead to the postponement of Tarnow versus Torun: http://translate.googleusercontent.com/translate_c?hl=en&sl=pl&u=http://www.sportowefakty.pl/zuzel/2011/05/06/mecz-w-tarnowie-uzalezniony-od-zawodow-w-krsko/&prev=/search%3Fq%3Dsportowefakty%2Bzuzel%26hl%3Den%26rlz%3D1G1TSEA_ENUK335%26prmd%3Divns&rurl=translate.google.com&usg=ALkJrhiZJ1PhqZo9ALYqVAWw5mzSfZND2w

Dexter
I thought that they had just decided to give Mroczka a run out in their "easy" match at the weekend I am pretty sure that Mroczka will ride this Sunday. He did pretty well in Tarnow and scored on a better level than Andersen did in Rzeszow. Besides, Hans is injured AFAIK and needs some time to recover. HenryW
I am pretty sure that Mroczka will ride this Sunday. He did pretty well in Tarnow and scored on a better level than Andersen did in Rzeszow. Besides, Hans is injured AFAIK and needs some time to recover. Yeah, Hans is out injured and will not be racing this weekend... As I mentioned earlier, I missed the fact that Hans had dropped out of the top 3 for Gorzow. When Hans was in the top 3 and injured they were a much stronger team without him than with him, as they could use Nicki and Tomek in the ZZ races as well as Zagar and PUK. Now he is out of the top 3, it makes sense to use Mroczka, so I guess he will be in the team against Falubaz. I'm just hoping that Falubaz can rise to the occasion and deliver a win anyway, but I am not overly confident...It should hopefully be a great match with a close scoreline. ladyluck
Now he is out of the top 3 ... Not just the top three. Even Lukasz Cyran is above him in the averages. Going to be tough for Andersen to get back into the Gorzow team when he's fit again. Rightly or wrongly, it seems Andersen has got himself a poor reputation with Polish clubs and the stories of unrest at other clubs when Andersen was there are playing on the mind of Władysław Komarnicki. Notable that Gorzow's form improved once Andersen was out of the team. I'd say he'll have to jump through hoops to get back in and I'm not sure he'd go for that. ladyluck
Trouble in Leszno, where it appears some enterprising Wroclaw fans managed to gain access to the stadium during the night for the purpose of a little unauthorised and unhelpful re-decoration: http://translate.googleusercontent.com/translate_c?hl=en&sl=pl&u=http://www.sportowefakty.pl/zuzel/2011/05/08/wandale-pomalowali-leszczynski-stadion/&prev=/search%3Fq%3Dsportowefakty%2Bzuzel%26hl%3Den%26rlz%3D1G1TSEA_ENUK335%26prmd%3Divns&rurl=translate.google.co.uk&usg=ALkJrhjfe0Lzsc2doayVj6-nBy8pD_K8lg Edited May 8, 2011 by ladyluck
