BigFatDave
Do you think we are all stupid! Don't think I'll answer that; instead I'll leave it up to my fellow Forum members to decide. He is no more a three pointer than you are. Considering he's never ridden Senior Speedway you seem to have a pretty high opinion of him. Presumably you've seen him in action to be making such a statement - I didn't get the chance to meet you on your visit Downunder; did you see him at the Danish 80cc meetings? Mildenhall have tried to pull a fast one and failed. And yes it is disgraceful, shameful and shocking that you thought you could get away with it. Can't follow your logic here; I thought everything had been announced way in advance of him heading over; the only thing that's been holding him back has been bureaucratic delays from the British Passport Office. montie
[quote name='PhilK' timestamp='1307905645' post='1951296' I do find it interesting that those who continuingly attack the possibility of Mildenhall tracking young Heeps, don't spend a little of their time attacking the PL clubs who fill their reserve berths with overseas riders rather than giving the young Brits their chance to develop! After all surely the development of a young rider doesn't begin and end in the NL? But maybe thats not in your/their (self) interest?? Its a good point raised there PhilK,i think possibly something should be done to fill at least one reserve berth in the Pl to compliment the new stance in the NL

Sometimes you get intelligent people who make out they are simple, however, reading your posts it becomes obvious that you know the square route of sod all so best I make it simple for you - how many promotions from EL down look to sign a 3 pointer who is a ....... 3 pointer?. The whole objective is to sign riders who improve their averages, and reserve riders can take up to 7 rides. Answer = ? Yep there is even a chance that maybe even you may get this one. IF you have Stoke affilliations then a special warning, beware of ageing hippies with pony tails and don't hang on to their every word Amongst many gems, as a sport from last year we are all still waiting the masses of English youngsters who are frozen out and cannot get a place in NL sides. As we are in the main owned by a promotion ostensibly from the PL on an issue like this we can never fail, we are exceptionally lucky that we can have youngsters such as JoJo, Lewis etc rising through the ranks - could be worse, we could have riders with little affilliation nor long term benefit to our club. I will be fair just for once instead of successfully winding you up! You do have a good set up now with the link to Ipswich because at the end of the day the National League is about developing riders for the Premier. You certainly have some good youngsters that can follow that route and with the expertise you have in Michael Lee and Chris Louis you are very lucky. Now that wasnt so stupid was it lol

Well done to Chris Louis for tying him up for the Witches next season. But he can come in on a legitimate visa as a sixteen year old and take his chances at PL level like any other foreigner. Well we got rid of all the foreigners who were here last season and I dont see any empty teams so if they were here a lot of Brits would be without a job. There have been Brits out of work this season too and judging by the success of the Under 15 events this season plenty more to follow. As usual Kev I was proven right. Logic has failed you as you rushed to make a snide remark Malcolm Vase

In actual fact, just 7 Australians rode in the NL last season to any degree and 3 of them are still there (Herne, Kurtz & Branford). I am with Kev and many others on this one. One foreigner per team does affect the prospects of British riders but still means that fully 90% of places are reserved for them and we gain the undoubted crowd pulling riders that come from down under. To me, that's a price worth paying. I'll reserve judgement on the Heeps issue until I have heard what Mildenhll and the BSPA have to say officially but if he can't ride the NL will be poorer for his absence. Someone else who cant conduct a discussion without a nasty comment. What the hell has my ego got to do with it. I am a true Brit you clearly dont care about our lads. That has little to do with egos. I enjoyed the last few weeks of Norwich City's season and I expect you did too. Ego or no ego. Malcolm Vasey
BigFatDave
Someone else who cant conduct a discussion without a nasty comment. What the hell has my ego got to do with it. Stick it up 'im, PP! Incidentally, I won't comment on the size of any particular member's ego on here: not enough bandwidth. Another example of fitting too many egos in one basket-case. I am a true Brit you clearly dont care about our lads. That has little to do with egos. Like all True Speedway Fans we'd like to see UK lads put the 'Great' back in Great Britain again, and in my opinion the best way for them to do this is to race against decent competition. I'm sure having races against the likes of Taylor Poole, Nick Morris and Robert Branford etc has helped UK NL riders no end. Alas there's no desire on the behalf of Brits to do this - witness the lack of entries in the Danish 80cc comp every year, or the Under-21 SWC. Iris 123 would know for sure, but I think Cam's ridden three years running in the Danish Comp - obviously 10,000 miles wasn't too far to travel for the Heep Family. I enjoyed the last few weeks of Norwich City's season and I expect you did too. Ego or no ego. Malcolm Vasey I've always had a soft spot for Norwich as well, ever since I learnt from listening to Bill Oddie et al on I'm Sorry, I'll Read That Again that Norwich is in fact an Acronym for "Nickers Off Ready When I Come Home". Logic has failed you as you rushed to make a snide remark Malcolm Vase Morning Malcolm. Not sure what logic has failed anybody or how you have been proven right. At £5 a point I don't think that NL can be called a Job. HT, 2BP and BFD are spot on a) Numbers involved Raising standards amongst our own c) Entertainment and d) Supporters - all this in a depressed market where finances are tight. At the moment in the NL we have teams struggling to find reserves - e.g. IOW for one, reserve riders who are coming in half a lap behind week after week - then only getting 3 rides because the other can be used to take extra rides and score more points, allegations of riders being sacked for not turning up. Hardly reasons to shout success and take a bow eh! Bit of a poor shot about people not caring about Brits just because they do not share your blinkered view. The Empire has gone Malcolm, if you think deeeeply about the benefits of our colonial cousins for well thought out reasons as laid out by BFD you might just start to get it. U15's? Not something that I have followed apart from attending the odd event a) What crowds turn up at Look at the last 3-4 years where is the big influx into the sport? Ashley Morris has done well, Brandon was the stand out star a couple of years back and half this season on is only just beginning to get up to speed. Sam Woods has bucked the trend and made the effort and is over learning his craft in Denmark as we speak, if he can do it why can't others? Two thoughts that you do not appear to consider - 1)if the current base of U.K. youngsters ready for NL are that good then why are Promoters / Fans wanting to bring people from overseas over? 2) Most Aussie's have more "Brit" in them than a lot of the current U.K. population - so who are you claiming as ours? Stand back, smell the coffee and take a look at some of the crowds out there and read the forums on why people do not attend the NL - logic says that if the trend continues teams will close and we could end up having Brit team managers unemployed
