Finnish quotes from the official press release of the meeting: Palomäki: Track was awful, slick and bumpy Timo Lahti: Shocking track conditions, slippery and full of holes with riders bouncing to directions not intended. Sounds promising for Niko.Hope all goes well.Track sounds bad though.Never been there to know if it is always like that,but it does sound par for the course with German tracks.Güstrow being the exception(although i have heard good things about Teterow lately)in the North. I know we were bad at Rye House in last year's final as I was there in person but that should not deter us from trying to qualify surely. Any thoughts/comments/facts anyone? If an official reason was given then I must have missed it. Can't think of a logical reason why Britain wouldn't enter a team, I suspect money would be the root cause and a lack of collective will to look to the future. It's not like it's shock news that the meeting is being held there, they knew the venue when they entered the competition. The fact that it's in Russia is just a minor detail that needs forward planning. I'm all for speedway to expand and get new countries in. But the fact is at the moment that these kind of meetings in Russia dont work. One would have thought something had been learned the previous time. It is hard to finance for a kid of 17,18 etc.Secher says if they do the road trip his riders will have to cancel meetings that would have made them money.But on the other hand i guess you have to ask how the Russians manage to do the trip in the opposite direction.I was asking that in Holsted last week about the young Ukrainian riders who are riding in the Superliga.Loktaev,Karpov etc.Guess they live in Poland which makes the journey a lot easier Quote Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...

For Denmark to pull out now after having made the qualification for the final is a no go. They knew before where the final is this year. If they don't want to or can't affort to go to Russia, they should nevere ever have entered the competition. Britain did not enter a team for that same mentioned reason, which I fell is disappointing, but fair play to Britain, they did it the right way and pulled out before the competiton has started. Considering that even the USA has sent their national team for a U21 World Cup qualifying round to the Ukraine this year, the Danish decision is very poor. The FIM should penalise Denmark if they really pull out. I would ban them from the comeptition for at least one, perhaps two years! And the Russian organisers of the final should receive some sort of compensation. I am really angry about this. Why has it come so late, Mr. Secher??? iris123 Posted June 12, 2011 Report Share Posted June 12, 2011 (edited) Helfer does the honest thing.Decides he can't afford to go through as a reserve and lets Lukas Simon win.He then gets punished.Denmark also had that opportunity as they knew what points tally they shouldn't beat to get through.I guess they could easily have reached one point below Poland and then pulled out with e.f in the remaining heats.Secher could also one or two days before the final just tell the FIM too many of his riders are ill and he can't send a team,leaving the organisers in the crap.It will be interesting to see if one of the other teams drop out.Poland will surely send a team now.But of course you have to feel for the Russian promoters,riders and fans when this sort of thing continually happens in International meetings there.Look at how many Russian rider make up the line-up in UEM meetings for instance.It is a sad side of the sport,but if the finances aren't there you can't expect youngsters to pay out thousands from their own coffers which many don't have And like i said when Argentina was announced,i expect many of the riders who find themselves out of contention to suddenly become ill.I can obly forsee a farce.But do feel sorry for the Argentinian guys of course.It is a world sport and the FIM need to promote the sport worldwide.But they need to find the sponsorship/finances for such ideas beforehand Edited June 12, 2011 by iris123 Quote Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...
