Birmingham Bulls Vs Dudley

Recommended Posts

Is the meeting actually being held at Birmingham? If so, will probably just plump for putting it in the Birmingham section rather than doing a whole new section for it.

BULLS V DUDLEY - SUNDAY, @ Birmingham Perry Barr.

Saturday April 30, 2011

THERE'S a mouthwatering local speedway derby at Perry barr on Sunday night - and admission prices have been slashed.

The Birmingham Bulls face Dudley Heathens, who rode some of their home meetings at Birmingham last season, in a one-off challenge at 6.30pm.

Plenty of Heathens fans are set to make the short trip for the meeting with admission just a tenner for adults.

Bulls boss Phil Morris said: "Dudley were the success story of the National League last season and this will be a real test for my boys.

"But I have put a competitive team together within the 40-point limit which applies to the National League and I hope Birmingham fans come along and anjoy the meeting."

The meeting will be supporting Troop Aid, a locally based charity which does tremendous work supporting injured British troops when they arrive home from active service.

The charity will have collectors at entry points to the Stadium from when the turnstiles open (5.15pm), right up until the start time of 6.30pm. All collection buckets will be clearly marked with the Troop Aid logo.

BIRMINGHAM: Jack Hargreaves, Jake Knight, Steve Worrall, Mark Baseby, Paul Starke, Stefan Nielson, Lewis Blackbird.

HEATHENS: Jon Armstrong, Richard Franklin, Tom Perry, Ashley Morris, Byron Bekker, Darryl Ritchings, Luke Chessell

Not a bad meeting, shame about the dust bowl, if you want these kids to learn, put some shale on the track.

A very good performance from Jack Hargreaves 15 point max. Nielsen looked good and british as well, Worrall entertaining, Starke doing the business, Baseby much improved since the last time I saw him, Blackbird and Knight looked like they had the no how, just need some more rides.

Shame about the track, Perry wanted to blast around the outside but nothing there to give him any grip, a great rider from the back, but you need something to work with, I feel Dudley have a lot to offer in the NL this season.

Agree about Nielsen, given his age and first look at the track. A couple of his starts were very impressive, unlucky in is first two rides. Leading when it was stopped, then ef at the tapes in the rerun. The second one he got stopped by Starke, on the back straight, when he could have let him through.

Have to agree with most of your comments PP;

Armo, looked either rusty or not fully fit after his lay off.

Richard, won one race and looked steady.

Tom, Still short of his best, just could not find that drive round the outside.

Ash, Has come on in leaps and bounds this year, good experience for him when he was at Edinburgh.

Byron, solid, but never made one gate, says it all really.

Darryl, won his first race, and was always on the pace.

Luke, Badly lacking in confidence and when he goes into those bends it shows, but he can gate.

All in all, while armo is not firing, we badly need an out and out No1 especially away from home.

Oh and while we are on the subject, will Mark Baseby fill in for Royno ???? to be honest he is not Royno,s standard but who is at this level. IMO He can score the 7/8s sometimes more, that is all we can expect him to do, as thats his average, and all we have available so i say, sign Mark Baseby he will do a job, Cant see any Rabbits in Hats out there.

Oh, have to agree about Stefan Nielsen He has a good surname  but also young Steve Worrall he has improved vastly on the potential he showed last year.

W e will see them both on Tuesday, lets hope they are not firing so well at Monmore otherwise we could be in trouble against Scunny who also have Ashley Birks and Steves brother Richie plus the experienced Paul Cooper, I feel we need to be firing on all cylinders for that meeting.
