Parsloes 1928 nearly
Okay - a tad early but am excited that for once a work meeting (in Manchester, in this case of course) coincides with a Speedway meeting I really want to go to! A question though - which Aces/Colts folk may know the answer to... Is the Colts vs. FTs likely to be a stand-alone fixture or part of a double header on the evening..? The BSPA fixtures list is rather ambivalent about it suggesting there MAY be an EL fixture too...?

neil3065
I wonder if Cameron Heeps will be here by then You'd certainly hope so. The NL fixture list is of such a small size that, if he were to miss one or two more fixtures.....there wont be very many left for him to actually take part in! Halifaxtiger
Nightmare meeting . Garrity aside, all passing was as a result of mistakes. The track was awful and while the weather didn't help, experience suggests that even a perfect day wouldn't have made much difference. There was absolutely no atmosphere whatsoever (the crowd was around 250 at most)and it was (certainly for the first few heats) a one sided massacre. Throw in a couple of dreadful refereeing decisions and short of a bad injury I don't think things could have been worse. The Belle Vue management deserve better for having the courage to enter an NL side but they have to do something about the track and the atmosphere. The only good thing was the chance to see a few of the boys from Mildenhall.

You were obviously at a completley different meeting to me I thought the crowd was quite good although quite spread out....... Well done to Scott Richardson who had a brilliant night and Lewis Blackbird held his own for his team mates. I do hope Joe jacobs finds his form again soon Best of luck Joe. What I do believe is that this section of the Forum is dying off, as very few people seem to want to comment anymore, and I think it is posts like this that are signing it's deat warrant to be honest. PhilK
It wasn't much of a meeting as Halifaxtiger points out and there was no atmosphere whatsoever! Belle Vue fully deserved their victory and have in Howarth and Garrity two real young talents who look destined to go along way in the sport. Mildenhall had a poor night with James Brundle suffering a 'bizzare' refereeing decision from the very poor Mr Dishington, not a name I have come across before, a trainee maybe That said only Hargreaves, the ever improving Lewis Blackbird and Baseby came away with any credit, although there were signs that Jacobs may be starting to find his way again which is good news! We definately need Cameron Heeps or a suitable reserve partner for Blackbird! We set off at 12.15 Monday lunchtime and arrived home at 6.45 am this morning after spending 5 hours stationary on the M6 following a fatal accident that saw two men thrown from a car after it crashed. That I think puts last night into perspective really as it was only a sporting event we were watching, so onward and upward for Sunday where the team have a chance to quickly bounce back when we meet Kings Lynn in our local derby! Killer Cat from Mars
Well I too was at a completely different meeting to some of the posters above. I just felt the Colts took the meeting by the scruff of the neck early doors and didn't really give the Fen Tigers chance to get back in the meeting. I can understand Mildenhall fans being disappointed with the result, but I honestly saw nothing wrong with the track. Same for both teams anyway as they say. I do agree though that James Brundle was done a disservice in Heat 11. He was not at fault when Chris Widman slid into him, and the referee should have put the red lights on and ordered a re-run with Chris being excluded. All in all a good night's work by the Colts - Fortress Kirkmanshulme Lane will take some breaching on the evidence of the meetings so far. Tina Widman Not sure you are correct on this one Tina, the Elite and Premier forums seem to be holding up well. Small attendances at the tracks who field a second team seem to bear out the interest in this level of the sport. as examples The total nonsense and lack of ability to sort out the farce that sees reserves take 7 rides a meeting over a long period - this year Garrity, Hazeldene and Knight and possible Heeps if he gets over squeezes out the place for the young coming through Brits and takes away interest. Taking out the flair of young up and coming Aussies / Scandanavians etc takes a further slice of interest away - simple, keep reserve slots for young Brits only, that will start the conveyor belt rolling and give people something to post about. I weren't at the meeting so can't comment, although looking at the updates there does not appear to have been a lot of passing, you would have been at Mildenhall Sunday and after the first few heats would have seen quite a bit of passing from both sets of riders, that is what will bring the crowds back - not just Belle Vue, Rye House has had it's share of meetings with little passing. Maybe explaining to fans where it went wrong, and how it will be put right for future would be more likely to bring people back rather than just accepting it? Like yours, Halifax's is an opinion, thats what starts debate - you answered - and surely that is what forum's are? Kev
garyy
Having travelled to Manchester and just got through M6 before they shut it, may I give a neutral view on the meeting! Firstly the track was not ideal after all the rain etc but it was certainly not rubbish. Belle Vue have a very tidy little side for this level with 3 experienced riders who I feel should have moved on from this level if going to "make it". and a very exciting young reserve. Can't see many away points for visitors if this side sticks together. The Tigers. With two of their most eperienced ridera contributing 1+1 between them and a reserve who really should cosider his future, had little hope, the other four rode their hearts out, although gateing practice would not go a miss as its hard to have much pssing when you are a bike and a half behind before the first bend. Despite this there was a few tidy scraps - the referee was clearly on a different planet, but what is new? CROWD ? I thought not bad for a wet Monday night, Poole v Coventry on Tele etc, yes 200 to 250 outside on bends and concorse but a lot more inside. Easily "break fairly even" I would think. This only the second meeting I have seen in this league/level. All I will say to people is give it a go, I think you could well be surprised. Oh and watch this boy Geritty - potential to go a long way. I'll shut up now, lads just keep putting in the effort.
