European Qualifying

Should do.Not that strong a line-up.The Germans normally disappoint in these meetings.Remember a few years back when Schultz was doing quite well he flopped and only got a couple of points.Suchanek really impressed me a few years back at Stralsund.Must have been the same meeting Matze flopped in.Pity there are no Poles as i thought two were supposed to be there.Pity Kling is there as i was hoping for someone a bit more exciting from Sweden

I can see Bogdanov, the Czechs and Klindt fighting it out for the top spots. After that it is anyones guess.Kling and your two boys could make it.It isn't a new track for Jari + if he can ride as agressively as last year in Holsted he should do well.Think last time in Stralsund he had problems with his bikes.Tobi might have a great meeting on his home track. And Helfer has managed one or two impressive results, but as i say the Germans more often than not struggle.

Well copied this from sportowefakty and they have Nicolai going through after a run-off!!!Unless they got Nicolai back there was no run-off as far as i know.At least i saw Nicki Glanz as he was packing Nicolai's gear away...

Can't say it was a great meeting. Not too many passes.Timo Lahti was very lucky. Was supposed to meet jari in Copenhagen, but Jari couldn't wait.So Timo had to make his own way to Rostock where he was picked up by one of the Stralsund staff.Missed the parade, but just managed to get there in time for the first heat and came out an won it  Jari really ballsed it up in his last heat.Up against M.Helfer who only had 1 point up until then and the French guy.He should have been assured on paper of 2 points at least,he totally missed the gate and couldn't do anything after that.Nicolai struggled after touching the tapes in his first heat.Surprise for me was Matze Schultz. So often looks good in German competition, but falls short in International. This season he has struggled a bit so far,but was the only one to give Bogdanovs a scare.Heat 12 was one of the best heats as matze came past Maksim, only for Maksim to pass him on the next bend

I got a call from the track yesterday and was worried that something had happened, but it was a friend who said that he wouldn't believe what happened with Timo's arrival if he had not sit next to him all the way...

Well like I said earlier on this forum, Timo adapts well to new circumstances and I guess this somewhat proves it. I would have been surprised if Mäkinen would have made the cut, maybe its one step closer to the big one again and just maybe he's ready in Malmö in four weeks.

EDIT: A bit weird that speedway.org says that Kilndt and Haupt are both through and speedway-forum.de says there was a run off. The UEM papers say that 8+2 are through, so if there was a runoff and Wojakzek was the ref, he should be banned again. :nono:

Yes.There was no run-off.Nicolai had packed his gear up.They said at first they were going to hold the presentation and then have the run-off.When i came off the track after the presentation the pits was pretty empty, but i saw Nicki Glanz carrying some of Nicolai's stuff away.

Wojakzek only allowed 1 photographer at a time on the inside of the track. And also supposedly said they were not allowed to have a case or rucksack etc, just a camera!!!! A few times he also held the riders quite a long time at the tapes. And in one heat wouldn't let the tapes up because he said the riders were too close and one was not in their area.Think it was maybe Kling + Busch. The track stweard went out on the track got them to move apart, but he still wouldn't let the tapes up.Then the steward gesticulated that they were ok and i wondered what was going to happen here.....but in the end he started the race

Sounds like he's just happy to be the center of attention... :t:

Waiting for a full meeting report shortly!

Shame that both Dutch riders didn't rode in this meeting...

Yes(although Pijper was riding on a French licence wasn't he :P ) and no Norwegian either. This takes us back to previous discussions on meetings in Russia...Ukraine and the number of riders who drop out.And like i mentioned before, let us hope the number who drop out of travelling to Argentina are few

Yeah Pijper is on a French license :P.

But I just don't understand it, why signup and then just don't turnup and do not give other riders the chance. This is only bad for the KNMV licensed riders because we are getting less places in these meetings every year because of this nonsense :(.

It is the same as turning up,but not wanting to qualify.I have heard it before and i heard it again yesterday...because the next round would be Austria and that is too far away!

Just wanted to re-quote myself as what we were talking about has now come out into the open.So it has been said,Hefenbrock and Kroner both didn't want to qualify into the next round last year and what i heard at Stralsund that Haupt didn't want to go to Austria as reserve has also been mentioned in the press. Now with young Marcel Helfer not wanting to qualify as reserve in the U21s,so team manager Schäfer dropped him "in case we were in a position to qualify for Russia and it was too far for him to travel....".And it also quoted many riders who dropped out of a meeting in Togliatti as it was too far away.Think Smolinski was mentioned in that one.It is a pity riders don't use these meetings as experience as it always seems those riders from Russia,Latvia and Ukraine travel to the west. There was even 3 Ukraine riders riding last night in the Danish Superliga.
