willp
DUDLEY Heathens are on a revenge mission when they chase the first National League silverware of the season against Buxton at their adopted Wolverhampton home on Tuesday (7.30). The former Cradley club face the Hitmen, who denied them a league and cup double last season, in the first leg of the National Shield with the return in Derbyshire this Sunday. Boss Will Pottinger is looking for a handy first leg lead from the Monmore meeting to take to the Hi Edge Raceway for the second leg. He said: “Buxton had a fantastic season last year and thoroughly deserved their success, even though it was at our expense! “This is our chance to hit back and we will be looking for revenge. We need a good lead from our home leg and hopefully we can achieve that on Tuesday. “And we hope our brilliant supporters will turn out in force to get behind us. The new lads were amazed by our support last week and at Mildenhall on Sunday, it makes a massive difference.” Heathens have included Hackney’s Barrie Evans as a guest replacement for the injured Jon Armstrong who is hoping to be ready to return on Sunday. Buxton include former Heathen Ben Taylor who was so unlucky last season when he sustained a wrist injury in his first race of the historic opening meeting at Birmingham and missed the rest of the season. Admission is just £10 adults, £6 concessions and £2 children with a 28-page full colour souvenir programme available for £2. HEATHENS: Barrie Evans, Richard Franklin, Tom Perry, Ashley Morris, Adam Roynon, Darryl Ritchings, Luke Chessell. BUXTON: Ben Taylor, Dean Felton, Luke Priest, Robert Branford, Adam Allott, Ryan Blacklock, John McPhail. c/o www.dudleyheathens.co
