BigFatDave
All of us Downunder were thrilled to hear the announcement by good ol' Nige on SKY that a 3-Test Series between the best bunch of blokes to ever don Kevlars and youse mob will be happening shortly. Venues: June 1st - Wimborne Rd June 2nd - The Abbey June 3rd - Arena Essex Raceway. If I'd known this was going to be on I'd have booked my flights earlier: hopefully SKY will be presenting a package; if not there's an opportunity for some savvy-minded individual to broadcast it over the net. I'll look forward to the banter that usually accompanies Ashes series (YES, I know the result, thanks!), hopefully without any reference to your appalling Personal Hygiene habits. Let Battle Commence!

BigFatDave
I presume as a Welshman you'll be supporting GB? Last time I checked my passport it said Australian - bit of a change from the one I had in the sixties - after I'd been refused entry to Spain in 68 it had Suspected Hippie In Transit stamped on it. Is this the right section of the BSF for a Test Series..? I agonised over the decision before plonking it on here, Parsoles, but since it involves riders who pretty well all ride in GB, with the hopeful exception of Crumpy & Flyin' Ryan, and since this section is on the top of the list - first cab off the rank as it were - I figured it'd have more impact up here. It is after all the latest in a long tradition of Tests between our two countries, and as such is a bit of an event. If any Mods disagree please feel free to move it to the International section (my second choice) or in deference to the sort of team youse mob are likely to come up with - the Jokes thread. Now then, where was I? Oh Yes - Come On Aussie!

BigFatDave
That somewhere in the old Soviet Bloc? You're thinking of Split? Which is pretty much what I did after Franco's goons decided I wasn't welcome. Meantime the opposing team managers face differing problems here - Middlo will be wondering who to put in, or rather who he can pick that will want to represent their country, while Boycey will be wondering who to leave out! Bagpuss
Great news that this series is happening and while its only a very small part of what the BSPA need to get off their collective backsides and do to get the Team GB set up to where it should be, this is a step in the right direction. Assuming that Lee Richardson has totally retired from Team GB, that no other Brits follow suit, that the Aussies use British based riders and that they don't blood any of their numerous promising youngsters then the teams will probably look something like this: GB 1 Harris 2 Stead 3 Woffinden 4 Kennett 5 Nicholls 6 King 7 Bridger AUS 1 Holder 2 Ward 3 Batchelor 4 Schlein 5 Watt 6 Shields 7 Doyle/Woodward/Proctor

JCookie
Shame we can't find someone a bit more challenging, perhaps a fellow World Cup finalist. Denmark would have been excellent opponents.
Scott Cassell
A good idea. However why are all the meetings in the South. Why not spread them out South, Midlands and North, so everyone can have a fair crack at seeing the meetings. You are restricting the number of spectactors likely to go, by holding them all in the South and on consecutive days. It wouldn't be a problem for the riders to travel across the country, they do enough of it anyway.
Jim Blanchard
This is brilliant news. Lets have more of this though against some decent opposition like Sweden, Denmark, Poland, and maybe Russia. (only joking - nothing against the lads from Oz). There was a time though when it was deemed that Australia would not be strong enough against us Brits and was combined with the Kiwi’s in some tests - or was it the other way around? Australasia…! Did Ronnie Moore ride as a Kiwi or an Oz in them? Anyway good times..

BigFatDave
You're only as good as your last match, so they say, and of course the last Test in GB was back in 2005, when we absolutely flogged you 49-41 at Wimborne Rd. Hoping for more of the same. The last series out our way was back in '94, when we tonked you 4-0. Among those still circulating from that series are Jason Lyons, Jason Crump and Shane Parker from OZ, while I think Joe Screen is the last survivor of your side. Be good to get a couple of the ol' farts out for a match race - whaddayareckon?
Trees
Let's hope the fans support it, having said that if SKY are then no worries I'm guessing
