willp
DUDLEY Heathens launch a new season of racing at their temporary Wolverhampton home with a revenge mission against the USA Tourists on Tuesday (7.30). The former Cradley club, who have trebled their season ticket sales after only one season back in the sport, are expecting a bumper crowd to see the battle for the Travel Plus Trophy. Adam Roynon, Luke Chessell and Darryl Ritchings will get their first experience of riding for the Heathens in front of their home fans. Dudley are looking to gain revenge after their defeat by the Tourists on their opening night last season. Boss Will Pottinger said: “It’s a big night for us all and this is the night we have all been waiting for through the long, dark winter months. “It’s a chance for us to lift the Travel Plus Trophy and we’re determined to do it in front of our own supporters, especially after they beat us last season.” The tourists include ‘Uncle’ Doug Nicol, who was based in Cradley during his British career with Middlesbrough. And former Birmingham and Swindon man Shawn McConnell is also included in the side along with the impressive Eddie Castro. Gates open at 6.30pm and a full colour 28-page souvenir programme will be available for £2. DUDLEY: Jon Armstrong, Richard Franklin, Tom Perry, Ashley Morris, Adam Roynon, Darryl Ritchings, Luke Chessell USA: Eddie Castro, Dylan Black, Austin Novratil, Doug Nicol, Shawn McConnell, Joey Holt, Mikey Buman. c/o www.dudleyheathens.co
21st century heathen
Looking forward to seeing the team in action for their first home meeting. It should give some sort of indication of what we can expect in the season to come because the Americans have a few that could cause us some problems. heathen79
Thanks! Hope Jon Armstrong is fit for Sunday. After the meeting Jon was asked how long he might take to recover. He said he didn't even want to miss Sunday but thought he may be selfish to attempt to ride, given that it was a league match. If he started and had to pull out like last night it may be costly, so there is probably a good chance a guest may be called upon. There is a picture on facebook this morning of Jon just stepping over the crash barrier from the pits and wincing in pain. I spoke to him before the meeting, and even crouching down to give an autograph caused him some noticeable discomfort. http://www.facebook.com/home.php#!/photo.php?fbid=1987995701012&set=at.1987993300952.120038.1276901056.1804992615.100000410931415.719240871.100001307794004.503271254&type=1&theater Edit: Barrie Evans now booked as a guest for Jon on Sunday.
