Well done to the Hawks, very decent outfit we have there, hopefully the lads can carry on picking points up on the road. Best wishes to Adam Lowe, seemed to be starting to make a breakthrough last season, lets hope he makes a full and swift recovery.

Just back from Lynn - was indeed an excellent meeting. Barrie & Mark's late meeting efforts were awesome - if the meeting had been one lap longer (in fact another bend in heat 15 would've done for the flyin' Master Owen...) the Hawks would've sealed what would've been a deserved draw.

Excellent stuff too from Jake Knight and fellow resrrve Tom Stokes for the YSs.

As others have said, best wishes to Adam on a quick recovery.

Indeed best wishes to Adam, not pleasant. Quite a good meeting in the end despite being quite processional in the early stages. Stokes ride in heat 7 and Evans in the last race being the standout moments. Hawks came right back into it with a great ride from Evans in heat 13 on a TR and generally seemed happier once the track had slickened off. Jake was excellent and epitomises what the Young Stars are all about, has come on leaps and bounds in the last eighteen months. Very impressed with Owen, some Rye fans thought he should have got their number seven slot ahead of Morley and on last night's evidence I'd probably agree although Morley rode well too. Had the pleasure of meeting Halifaxtiger, nice to put a face (and a pair of legs :D) to the name. And I think I should take some of the credit for his updates going by the number of times he referred to my programme :P

:o

It was your fault (and Rhidassa's) that I needed your help :D

I was only wearing the shorts to annoy that git Nikko. Sadly, it didn't work  - indeed all that happened was I got a load of flak from the bloke with the roving mic.

Who is he ? Get rid of him, he's rubbish :P

Decent meeting. Good to see young Mr Evans in flying form.

I'm sure everybody's thoughts this morning will be with Young Star Adam Lowe who crashed heavily in his opening ride last night and appears to have broken a bone in his back. It was a very nasty crash indeed but the medical crew at the NA were superb, taking every precaution as the tended to him on the track, and he was off to hospital with minimum delay. As I said our thoughts are with him and hopefully we'll get an update on his progress later in the day.

Whilst that obviously put something of a dampener on proceedings, Adam's crash apart, it was a cracking first match of the season at this level at the NA with both sides playing their full part.

Jake Knight's paid 18 return speaks for itself as one of the high spot - his winning time of 61.20 in heat 2 being quicker that winning times recorded by Dan Nermark, Tomas Topinka, Olly Allen, Ben Barker AND Kryzstof Kasprzak in the senior Stars recent home match against Birmingham!

My other top moments were Barrie Evans and Marc Owen's rides in heats 13 & 15.

Heres wishing Adam Lowe a full and speedy recovery. In the opinion of those there last night, is Jake Knight ready for Premier League racing ? From the outside looking in, it would appear so.

As I recall in the few meetings he had in the Premier league last seasons he was on the pace, but maybe a little hesitant mixing it at the first bend. I assume he is a Kings Lynn asset.

This was an excellent advert for National League speedway.marred only by the injury to Adam Lowe(back injury)..Jake Knight was superb for the stars. For the Hawks Barry Evans came on really strong towards the end of the meeting 15+1 ..Mark Owen battled well from the back late on 8+1..and Ben Morley was solid all night in the difficult no 2 slot.7+2 .Good back up from David,.6+1 Ben Hopwood,5+2 ,Shane 4+1. 15 yr old Brandon Freemantle showed up well and will learn from these early meetings, has the makings and will come good..This is a good solid team and should have a great season..

I'm glad that I've waited until this morning to post my comments, especially as there are some good postings with positive views on last nights meeting.

Had I posted last night, I dare say I'd have said some things in the heat of the moment, which isn't what I'd have wanted.

However, I'm still seething over the attitude of a number of KING'S LYNN fans that passed comments to me such as "That's rubbish, I'm not paying good money to come and watch that again" (stupid remark anyway, as I know for a fact that they got in for free last night, then had the audacity to complain about having to pay £1 for what they called a rubbish programme!!). Other comments were "How can you compare that to Elite League racing, nah you bleedin' can't".

Although I don't know you people personally, you know me, and I find your disgraceful remarks an insult to those young men (yes I know there were a few not so young) who put on what I thought as do people who travelled from afar to watch this meeting, an excellent evenings entertainment.

To those who made the remark about how can you compare that to Elite League racing, my answer is you don't and shouldn't have to compare it, it's a completely different level for goodness sake. Yes of course the racing is slower, but speed doesn't make for a better race, and as Bryn has said, some of the times recorded last night were faster than what we've seen from some Elite League riders thus far this year anyway.

Last night we saw a fifteen-year old, two 16-year olds, two 17-year olds, two 18-year olds, one 20-year old, one 21-year old amongst the field all learning their trade, in the hope that one day they might become not just a World Champion, but a BRITISH WORLD CHAMPION. All lads serving their apprenticeship whilst at the same time putting their health on the line to entertain us, as we sadly saw with Adam Lowe (and he's only twenty-two). How many of you people, whatever line of work you were/are in, had advanced any higher in your chosen profession at that age, so why expect it of these young riders.

As Len Silver said in his excellent interview with Kevin Moore, how are we ever going to produce another British World Champion if you don't show your support at the turnstiles for these National League meetings, something some of you seem to have already decided you're not going to do!

I'm not going to say that it was the best meeting I've seen this season, but it was most certainly equal to the best, however, the performance of Tom Stokes in Heat 7 was head and shoulders better than anything else I've seen in 2011. Mildenhall are in town next Wednesday, and I'm sure that the true speedway fans will once again be entertained, as they were last night.

I do hope that the injury to Adam Lowe heals quickly, and that he's soon up and about on his feet again.

Anyone who went there last night expecting EL racing must be a little daft!!!! I think they really need to get out there on a bike and see how hard it is to ride/race a speedway bike!!!! Most of these youngsters are learning the trade, let's hope there are enough top, experienced riders out there who are willing to give them the time and tips they need.

I hope the alternative weeks of EL and NL will keep the NL crowds up at Lynn. At the end of the day it's the racing practice that the boys need to get on. I take my hat off to all the fans who go to watch NL regularly, putting their money into training up our british riders ..........

In total agreement with you Mike. These young lads need support and we prefer to watch these lads mature and learn. Give me a team of british lads any day and it was so good to hear the older members of the teams willing to give advice and help to the youngsters. I would think that the majority of KL Star supporters who turned out last night were there on a free ticket. What was wrong with the programme? it had all you needed to know.

Once again we hope Adam will be fit and well and back with us soon. good luck Adam.

Mike I know you're a massive advocate of NL racing and quite clearly still seething a little & that's fine. Yes, these youngsters are the future of our sport but I know most of the complaints where from 1st timers to NL racing.

To be completely honest, I can understand what they mean. In the first few weeks we've been extremely, extremely spoilt by the standard of racing in the EL. New punter WILL always compare both products and the racing was World's apart in quality.

I've been to a few NL meetings in the past and last night's I have to say, it isn't my cup of tea either. £10 for NL or an extra £5 for the big league. People will compare that for value also.

Peoples opinions will differ all the time as to what they see as good value and for me, Jake Knight & Marc Owen apart there was nothing in last night's meeting at all.

The last thing that you should be doing is belittling people because they didn't enjoy it. You say yourself, the NL needs as many punters as possible and the best thing to do is not promote the negatives.

Best wishes and a speedway recovery to Adam Lowe

Very sensible words from Mimmo: I 100% agree with you.

And you're right to highlight Uncle Len's on centre green interview: very wise words indeed from the great man (no doubt I'll be accused of bum-licking again!!! ).

Very good meeting and I'd take this fare over Elite League any (and every...!) day of the week.. :approve:

Shall certainly be making the Wednesday evening trip to Lynn for NL racing whenever I can this year..

Much better programme this year too... Though the geezer writing the away team notes needs to brush up on his East End geography!! That's as in the "notorious" East End...: As I said to you last night Mike, you only call it "notorious" coz I live there!!!! :P

Re the programme Len Silver also said that the new London Olympic Stadium?? is built on the site of the old Hackney stadium not 2 miles away as it says in the programme ............

Hence my dig at poor old Mimmo about his poor grasp on East London geography...! The new stadium is more like 200 yards from the old Speedway track... Considerably less than two miles!!!!

Easy on the blood pressure, Mike :D

Seriously, I am little surprised that you are surprised by the reactions around you because being a long term NL fan you will be aware more than most of big league snobbery and I have little doubt that some of those remarks were provoked by that and that alone.

Fortunately, I had the pleasure of standing with KL fans (BP, Trees, Rhidassa)whose opinions were wholly objective. :approve:

The funny thing is some people have a strange idea of entertainment. My visits to NA are naturally infrequent but I am able to compare two meetings from the same venue in the same week, one that I watched on the box and one that I watched live.

The first was a one-sided massacre, over after 4 heats. The other a highly competitive meeting with two evenly matched teams that was not decided until the last few yards of the final race. Not difficult to work out which was likely to be the more exciting.

Some people also have a different definition of 'racing' to me. What I saw on Monday was a series of home riders zooming past hapless Hammers desperately struggling (it seemed to me) with alien track conditions (and that's an indictment on Lakeside, not KL - its about time we had more EL tracks with a bit of grip). On Wednesday, I saw both sides going for it and indeed the best passing moves were made by the Hawks. I'd say the latter is far more preferable.

One has to wonder which meeting would have been better for Sky to cover - I am trying not to imagine the screaming pitch that Messrs Pearson and Tatum would have got to watching Marc Owen & Barrie Evans challenging James Cockle & Dennis Mallett in that last race.

Some prefer one sided massacres with the home side doing all the passing; I prefer close meetings with both teams getting stuck in.

Still, each to his own, eh ? :)
