Guest mart W
For those older fans like me who can remember the one-off World Finals, I often think who were the best riders who never had the luck needed to have qualified for those great nights, but could beat the best in the bread & butter leauge racing. Riders like Bob Kilby, Sandor Levai and Neil Street.
boxer123
We had this one on Witches forum.I wont spoil it by saying who "won". My nominations were Tony Davey, Arne Pander and Bobby Ott. The winner was someone else!
Guest mart W
I hope I've spelt his name right, Ovinyyd Berg, a very good Norweigian Rider.

norbold
What about Phil Collins, Reg Wilson, Terry Betts, Arnie Haley, Alan Wilkinson, John Louis and Peter Carr. John Louis? He came fourth in 1974 and third in 1975. Terry Betts also reached a World Final.
Guest mart W
I think Arnold Hayley was a reserve at Wembley in 1969
spin king
Sorry forgot about Mr Louis and Betts, but does reserve count.

spin king
Here is some more Steve Gresham, Phil Herne,The Late Chris Pusey, Ian Turner and Neil Collins.
Guest mart W
I think Phil Collins rode in one final '83. How about another Cradley legend Ivor Brown, and another rider who always piled up the points Charlie Monk the man of mystery.
BrizHeathen
This is a tough one, hard to remember who actually appeared in the one off world finals. Riders like Steve Bastable who was in top form when he was reserve in 78. Then there's the American legend Mike Bast, rated higher than the likes of Penhall by many Stateside fans, but totally untried in Europe except for a poor Inter Continental final at white City in 77. Did Bo Petersen ever ride in a World Final?
Guest mart W
I think Bo rode in 1 final in Sweden 1984 , not sure though.
boxer123
Yes,Bo Petersen scored 9pts at Gothenburg in the 1984 final. Ther is one particular US rider who had a very high profile that no-one has mentioned.

frigbo
Cooky rode in the Bradford final of '85 Boogaloo must rank highly amongst those that never made the big night. Norman Hunter and Garry Middleton.
Grachan
Did Dag Lovaas ever reach a World Final? I don't think he did, which would make him a top contender. He was real quality at Oxford. Edited December 28, 2003 by Grachan
