Dutch & Belgian 2011 News

Recommended Posts

Rider of the meeting was ofcourse Max Dilger. He was absolutly flying and nobody had a single chance to his man. This also created some talking that a rider like Max shouldn't be racing in this meeting (too good).

Jesper, I know that Nico and the rest of the guys at Zolder want to raise the profile of speedway in Belgium, and to do that you have to engourage better riders to take part in the meetings. Also for the future good of speedway in Beligium & the Netherlands you can't stand still. If the same level of rider competes in the meetings all the time, speedway will stagnate and no one will improve, and that can't be good for the future.

Unless riders are given the chance to pit themselve against a higher standard of rider, how can they gauge how much they need to improve to reach the next level. Also just being around and talking to such competitors cam often throw up something that will help a less experienced rider to move on from where they are.

But it's a balancing act, it's no good introducing riders to your competitions that are unbeatable, as this may discourage people from entering and improving, but on the other hand you have to progress. As for Max being too good, from what I can see he, as I didn't attend this time, he was no more dominant than Peter Juul Larsen was at the Golden Helmet that I attended in September, and lets face it, it was the Belgium 'Open' Championship.

As I said, I couldn't make it this time, but hopefully will see you all in June and again in September.

See you then

Yeah I agree with you there. Nico and the club did a great job with putting together another awesome meeting, I was realy impressed with them getting Max Dilger contracted for just a Belgian 'Open' meeting, awesome :). I like it when they put riders like him in my class because you learn alot from them :).

See you in June and in September ;).

Quite good meeting, beside the rain lol :). Good crowd too. The club decided to use the small track instead of the long one (see google maps to understand what I mean) which was cool :D.

And i was thinking about going to this as well.According to google maps it should only take 150 minutes to get there.Pretty much the same as yesterdays trip to Holsted. But i didn't think the line-up was worth the petrol. You never can tell.Good result Jesper :)

Thanks for posting the results, saves me the work :D haha.

Was a good meeting. Lots of passing and close racing. Not a very big crowd (300-400 people I think) though. David Bellego should do well in the PL, quality rider and super fast. He arrived late in Zolder because he had to do a grasstrack meeting in soutern France on the evening before, so he did 4 practice laps in the pooring rain just before the meeting and already made a super impression.

well today was the 3rd round of the DSF Club Championship (6 rounds) in Lelystad. Excellent weather and track held up quite well. Sadly not alot riders, which is a real shame. In my opinion every KNMV licensed rider have to race a few of these meetings. Just to keep the club (financialy) and the sport a live. Anyway, see below for the results.

Seniors:

1. Wim Kennis

2. Jesper Veldhuizen

3. Jack Drenthe

Nationals:

1. Robert-Jan Bangma

2. Nico Eijbergen

3. Kevin Glorie

4. Glenn Haex

David is now looking for a spot in UK,he can come over anytime and wants to stop grasstrack to only focus on speedway. He continues his progress, scoring well on every kind of tracks, always giving 100% and he really wants to improve his skills on technical english tracks. So,if some promotors see that...:D

Check out this video of him (1st june at Lamothe-Landerron)beating Olly Allen,Stuart Robson,Théo Pijper and others ;)

Sorry for my bad english :D

I have broken my leg in training on the 2nd of July at Lelystad :(. Spend 4 days in hospital and got my legged pinned. Out for the rest of the season sadly.

The 3rd round of the Dutch Speedway championship today in Veenoord got called off because of the rain. Such a shame because the club is only allowed to run 2 speedway meetings per year on that place so there is no chance on a rerun there. Good news is that Blijham is going to stage another round of the Dutch championship later this year, on 11 september.

Sorry to hear that news Jesper.

Obviously rules out a ride at the Golden Helmet meeting at Zolder, but may be we'll see you there in a spectating capacity instead. Hope things heal up quickly for you, and your not off the bike for too long. See you in September.....maybe?
