RHayes
Is it that bad ? Yep, so much they've abandoned it. The track from the picture I found on facebook was like a mud bath. Edited August 7, 2011 by LFC1892
StevePark
Can anyone please explain why leicster are allowed to use Peter Karlsson and Kauko Nieminen in the fours when surely they havent ridden enough rides to qualify. Somerset werent allowed to use heffenbrock because apparently he hadnt ridden enough rides to qualilfy even though hes rode 15 matches this season. Firstly - this should be in the Premier Fours thread in the 'Individual, shared etc.' section. Secondly - in that thread, this whole argument has been running for some time now. Icicle
Well, will the 16 heat re-run be at another track ?? If so will "host" team be allowed?? Ah Speedway rules... Edited August 7, 2011 by icicle
speedibee
All the Leicester knocking neg ferretts on here will be ABSOLUTELY GUTTED to know that as at 2.45pm Saturday, Beaumont Park has only seen a 10 minute shower today & is now baking in 72degree heat therefore there are NO muddy banks, the supporters areas are baked hard, the track's looking good, the stadium looks great having had the track kerb & kick boards re-painted today by the volunteers, fun fair is being set up with dodgems & other rides for kids & all looks good for tomorrow. :-)

MD
The quicker the BSPA bring back qualifiers the better, cuts out all this we deserve to be there. Don't bother with qualifiers, another waste of a blank fixture and for us another visit of Edinburgh. If they have to have it again next year they should take the top 8 in the league at that point and ask the clubs the week before to nominate their four riders and reserve similar to what they do with the pairs. This rider qualification lark is a nonsense with rules applied to some and not others. Edited August 7, 2011 by MD

Backless
Don't bother with qualifiers, another waste of a blank fixture and for us another visit of Edinburgh. If they have to have it again next year they should take the top 8 in the league at that point and ask the clubs the week before to nominate their four riders and reserve similar to what they do with the pairs. This rider qualification lark is a nonsense with rules applied to some and not others. And then the bitching on here centres around "who's in the fours?", "they can't even advertise the event", "how can fans plan ahead?". It just needs a bit of common sense: some sort of rider qualification to weasel out the average fixers is necessary, a cut off date for teams qualification, & the host team are exempt... BECAUSE THEY DON'T HAVE TO QUALIFY. The alternative being most of the home crowd stay away & the whole thing goes down the pan. The crowd at Peterborough last year was okay, but nothing exciting, and those who bang on about Peterborough being "the home of the fours" conveniently ignore the fact that at least part of the "great atmosphere" was because the home crowd were there, because it was a PL track for most of those "great" years. Nobblytriers
I can't say that I'm fully up to speed with all of the rules but I was wondering, all of you saying that Leicester shouln't be allowed to have such and such and so and so, riding in their team, what team should we have ridden with? We only have two of original riders left in the team and our new signings are all very new! I'm also not understanding the comment on the Leicester Newport match and the rules not applying to the home team. Sorry to be a little slow but can someone explain please? We only have two of original riders left in the team and our new signings are all very new! I'm also not understanding the comment on the Leicester Newport match and the rules not applying to the home team. Sorry to be a little slow but can someone explain please? Not a problem: qualifying teams' riders had to be a)fit to ride & have completed a certain number of matches for their club (I don't recall the exact number, because i) i have no need to retain the number and ii) I don't actually care what it is / was ). Leicester, as hosts, didn't qualify & therefore the qualifying number of matches doesn't apply. The anally retentive on here would have preferred that Leicester ran without Karlsson, Nemo etc. or even better hadn't been allowed in the meeting at all - not least of all because it would have started a whole mass debate about "poor crowd" "loss making event" and all the rest. I hope that helps.
HarryMango
The final will be 16 heats at Beaumont Park on a Sunday - date to be arranged - ticket stubs from today get £5 discount from entry fee.
drew2
Maybe they should have used Hancock, Gollob, Crump and Holder then? Would have been harsh on McGowan, Masters and Gathercole if that had happened! (Sorry when I saw Holder I thought you meant Jimmy!) For the re-run can the teams be altered or does it have to be the same four? Dak and Christian maybe be available for Somerset? If the re-run Final is well supported then it might show the BSPA that qualifiers are the way to go with a similar format again (16ht, 4man teams). Leicester Lion
The final will be 16 heats at Beaumont Park on a Sunday - date to be arranged - ticket stubs from today get £5 discount from entry fee. That's incredibly generous. God bless the BSPA.
Diceyccfc1966
I hope Leicester win this because the BSPA have done their best to help them. 1.auto qualification 2.home advantage 3. Allow riders to enter after the qualification . This is not jibe at Leicester but the authorities.
justathought
I'm afraid I didn't enjoy that one bit. Leicester really do need to get the track sorted, even with the best imagination in the world, I think you must agree a racetrack it ain't. It will be difficult to find a suitable date for all 4 teams to race again and I would imagine the turn out to be rather poor after today . so by Virtue of Leicester having the highest qualifying score ,that would be criteria enough to award them overall winners , This is the BSPA we are talking about after all . Tony The Tiger
Well that was my 2nd visit to Leicester and I doubt very much whether I'll go there ever again. The shape of the track seems great but the racing there is dire, and that's being very polite! 2 meetings and I think I've seen 5 passes in 31 heats of speedway, and in total I think there was 3 passes all day today, 2 of them being in one race. Something needs to be done about the track or I fear others like me would rather watch the updates than waste money going to watch that garbage. And as for £20 for admission...If I knew in advance that the 'racing' was going to be like that, I'd begrudgingly pay a tenth of the admission money. Ok, I'm bound to get the old "what do you expect, it's rained" comment, but quite frankly, that was a blessing in disguise as I didn't have to watch another round of gate and go speedway...thats if you can call it speedway. Rant over...for now! Edited August 7, 2011 by Tony The Tiger

Of course it will be re-run - just like last year's NL Fours (maybe they could award that to Leicester too )
